Destruction rains from the heavens! (Updated 4:55 PM)

Another list of bullet points about ORAS! I really have nothing clever to say, so let's get on with it. As usual, I'll update this post throughout the day if there's anything else.

- Giratina, Kyurem and Landorus indeed require the other members of their trios, but if I'm understanding this correctly (as per Serebii allegedly finding Landorus with genies imported from gen 5) you don't need the opposite legendary to come from the other game, they can come from gens 4 and 5 and it'll still work.

- A Pokémon that was previously unable to get its hidden ability can now get it. Unfortunately, it's not a starter or a legendary, but rather Dragalge. Oh well, at least Adaptability blows everything it had previously out of the water.

- Serebii's scrambling to figure out how to get Regigigas, and right now, as of this writing, it seems like NICKNAMING POKÉMON of all things somehow triggers the encounter. Of course Serebii's extremely skeptical ("I refuse to accept that" and "There's no way in hell that could be it" were his exact words), and so am I, but somehow it's the most believable theory we have.

- You don't have to play a crappy mini-game to make Pokéblocks anymore. You just pick four berries to blend, and bam, instant Pokéblock. So at least you can get to the contests slightly quicker that way. Speaking of contests, I wonder if Claydol dominates everything the same way it did back then?

UPDATE, 12:06 PM

- Regigigas confirmed to be obtained by bringing all three Regis to Island Cave in the day, with Regice holding a Castelia Cone and being nicknamed. An NPC in Pacifidlog gives hints for all of these... but DIFFERENT PLAYERS GET DIFFERENT HINTS. Castlevania 2, eat your heart out. This is the most convoluted thing ever in a Pokémon game. At least the truck thing in RBY was fake...

UPDATE, 4:55 PM

- Deoxys is officially no longer an event Pokémon! Well, technically so is Mew, but you have to jump through so many hoops to get it that I don't think it counts. Anyway, level 80 Deoxys is catchable during Episode Delta, and it appears to be in its Ruby/Sapphire form. Luckily, one Pokémon that's forced into your party is...

- ...the unstoppable juggernaut that is Mega Rayquaza! Smogon confirms that Mega Rayquaza is indeed affected by its held item (contrary to most people's wishful thinking, who hoped it would come with a Klutz-like effect), so it definitely seems like Arceus' reign of terror has come to an end! Hoo boy, can't wait to see those usage stats. By the way, it can't mega evolve without Dragon Ascent. Oh noes, it needs its best move to mega evolve! This is such an unfair restriction! ...no, really, this IS unfair. Who the fuck is NOT going to have one on their team?

  1. How to catch Regigigas:
    Capture all three Regis
Have it be daytime. If night, it won't work.
Bring all three Regis to Island Cave
Have Regice hold the Castelia Cone (You can get Castelia Cone either in the Trick House (with all other regional delicacies including Shalour Sable) or by showing Regice to a girl in Mauville Hills)
Have Regice have a nickname, only Regice needs it.
    THE most convoluted Pokemon ever...

    1. ...I like Regirock and Regigigas...

    2. The most convoluted method of obtaining a pokemon which has absolutely no battle value due to an absolutely atrocious pokemon. Seriously, WHY give Regigiggas, a legendary pokemon which is meant to be stronger than other pokemon, such a horrible ability?

    3. I like it better than Slaking. And it seems anything cold will suffice...

    4. Slaking can at least do Choice Band hit-and-runs. Regigigas can't even do that.

    5. Regigiggas was one pokemon I thought could use a Mega Evolution to get rid of that horrible ability and give it a stat boost. Then it would have use, though only in Ubers admittedly.

    6. Screw the stat boost, keep its stats the same and give it an acceptable (but not really good or anything) ability. That way it'd be kind of a lesser Mega Kangaskhan.

    7. I still say the original method of obtaining the Regis is more convoluted than this. Finding the well-hidden cave in the most confusing route in the game, reading braille, finding and catching Relicanth and Wailord, having them in the correct spots in your party, finding the other caves, and following vague directions to use specific moves to unlock the Pokemon.

    8. In a way you still have to do that to get Regigiggas because of the "Regice nickname" requirement. Remember you can't send a pokemon back to a previous gen once you've sent it over and if it wasn't nicknamed... well you're in for the long haul.

  2. hope they return to milotic's old evolution method (max beauty) trading is a pain in the ass when you are not sure you will get it back.

  3. Oh man, this game's looking better every update you post here! I'm especially looking forward to solving that whole Regigigas puzzle in my game.

  4. It's also official. Deoxys is no longer an event pokemon. However when you fight it, it's a very high level, at level 80

    1. Who do you think I'm using the Master Ball on?...

  5. So, Dragon Ascent is that string? Well, at least its lore is accurate now. Kyogre and Groudon really will tremble now...

    1. Instead Arceus' lore is totally wrong now. Most powerful Pokémon my left foot.

  6. I don't know if serebii mentioned this but the Safari zone is basically treated just as any other area: no fee, no safari balls and you get to use your Pokemon. Took them long enough to get it right...

  7. So Serebii seems to have a typo, or else it's really true that Beautifly is now on the fast track to OU. After all, if it really acquired such a great move as it did, there's no way it can stay in NU for long!

(this is sarcasm, you should check the page)

    1. Okay, where is this? Primal Groudon is the PotW, and the most noticeable typo was the data on Magnezone still being there...

    2. Look at the movepool changes OR/AS brought. Look at Beautifly.

      Should have specified, sorry.

  8. Smogon discovered if you pester Lanette enough she'll put the "move" option (exact name escapes me, "Organize Pokemon?") above withdraw & deposit
