I'm finally ready to rock!

(Yes, I'm putting this in a different entry than my rant from earlier. I just think it fits better that way.)

After many days of saying, "I'm close enough to the gym, I'm going to reach it today!", it was finally done today! The place was quite visually impressive, though the puzzle... I'm not sure it's worth calling a puzzle, really. The guy at the entrance of the gym cracked me up by outright saying how pitiful Rock was defensively, because for years and years and years Gamefreak tried to sell us the idea that Rock was an amazing defensive type. Then they just gave up entirely and took it away from Mega Aggron. Yikes. Grant was... well, I had three overleveled Pokémon, all with super-effective moves. I let Mienfoo go at it since it was still the lowest of the three, and two Jump Kicks later that was it. I actually had a use for the Rock Tomb TM - I gave it to Mienfoo instead of Protect, which makes its buff to 60 power and 95 accuracy (up from 50 and 80 respectively) all the more fortunate.

Random thought of the day: if Blaziken is so in sync with my wishes that it avoids moves and performs criticals, why can't it be in sync with my wishes and OBEY ME?

Current team: L44 Blaziken, L44 Venusaur, L38 Mienfoo

Edit: Something I forgot to mention yesterday... gift Pokémon are FINALLY sent to your PC when your party's full! It took them, what, five generations to get it right again? Anyway, I really like that... I can appreciate the little things.

  1. Guess it just does not want you to have that taste of ultimate power. That will come when you get Mega Evolution...Whether it will obey is another matter...

    1. I wonder if it can say "screw it, I don't want to megavolve"...

    2. Maybe it will somehow manage to UNMegavolve. I know that is impossible, but with how it seems to like being a troll (it was made by the company who made us think that they were bringing back runners this Gen, only much worse)...

    3. Well the good news is, when you finally DO get to fight the birds, they stay put. Still, with all the extra effort involved, I would've liked it if they threw us (and them) a bone and gave them their DW abilities.

    4. On the subject of Mega Evolutions, I noticed that they don't seem to gain any added effect from Pokemon Amie while in mega form except MAYBE exp. boost though I'm not quite sure on that last part because the only Mega I have was gotten through trade so it already gets a boost. (not sure if this is old news)

  2. It cares for you, but it doesn't see you as worthy of using it's power yet?

  3. Observation on Zapdos since I am at that part of the game: Shadow Tag indeed does not work to save the chasing it to Azure Bay. However, it always seems to be the first thing to encounter on its route. It also seems to stay on its route unless you Fly. Then again, I only ran into it twice, and the first was by complete accident...

  4. I'm going to go ahead and say this since it's basically true. The 6 Magikarp fight was tougher than the Rock type gym. Get your Mortal Kombat music ready, Slowflake.

  5. This may be unrelated but i really want to know what your thoughts on sticky web are.

I see it as SR only worse

    1. Sticky Web might be at least as good as Stealth Rock, depending on the distribution (not holding my breath). It amounts to a free Choice Scarf on your entire team. I'm thinking it will be used sort of how Trick Room is used now, to allow you to invest in bulk and punish opposing Pokémon that invest in Speed. They say Speed is the most important stat in Pokémon, so anything that can give you a jump on the opponent is a major boon. It's a pretty safe bet to expect the usage of [insert Pokémon that gets it] to jump, especially now that the Ghost type, and thus spinblockers, got a whole lot better this generation.

    2. I can't see a move that's likely to be restricted to two or three Pokémon, the best of which is GALVANTULA, being THIS great. Anyway, this is an extra tool to make hyper offense miserable, which I can get behind.

    3. Smogon pretty much simultaneously went batshit over this move and stated Galvantula would be OU, so... (considering the other users are Smeargle, Ariados, and Shuckle...)

  6. Not quite. You still have to have a free slot for the Lapras and Lucario...

    1. True for Lapras, but for Lucario it's excusable since it's a very similar case to Reshiram and Zekrom in Black and White and you get the option to send one team member to your PC beforehand. (Since you already spoiled it for him, I feel free to clarify those details)

  7. I've been meaning to ask you... What do you think of Super Training? (I don't think you've mentioned it yet, I apologize if I'm wrong) I just tried it out myself, all 30 levels, and it actually seems pretty cool. It makes EV training a breeze, as it's much faster and easier to keep track of, and you don't have to gain EXP while doing it! It kind of eliminates the need for the EV-reducing berries now, with the Reset Bag and all. I also got some pretty good items and it was surprisingly fun.

    1. 12 is a multiple of 252, so...yeah. No need to look for the Pokerus now...Unless that doubles the yield in the minigames...At least you CAN reset it so you do not have to go and catch another one. You can also apparently train non-perfect IVs with EVs to give the illusion of perfect IVs. Is that true?...

    2. My friend and I have pokerus to test it out with, though I never tried the super training (and I don't care about EVing wild caught pokes that can't even hope to be competitive).
