Are you spending big this holiday season?

I know I'm not. My family pretty much decided to slash into the holiday spending this year, and of course I'm happy to follow suit. Not just because it means a bit more money in my pockets, but also because I hate shopping, and I hate it even more when every shop is chock full of people and it takes half an hour to find a parking spot. Then there's the fact that I made some donations, chiefly to my alma mater as well as TSG and the Make-a-Wish Foundation, so my contribution to the Christmas tree's underside is quite limited this year.

What about you? Are you dropping by every store in a 300-kilometre radius in order to give something to every relative you have, even third cousins twice removed? Or do you just give a little something to your parents and siblings and are done with it? Or possibly you're too young and have no income to buy presents with, so all you do is GET presents?

  1. I'm buying a present for everyone in my family as well as a few friends, but my girlfriend and I are doing a lot of joint presents this year (since our families are so close). I'm happy to say that we got our shopping done in a couple of hours max with no difficulty, and I got my girlfriend's birthday presents three weeks early as well. This was perhaps the easiest year for shopping I've ever had.

  2. I keep to a fairly small budget for each present I give, but I only give to my closest friends and family members. All in all, I don't spend that much, but then again, I don't exactly have that much, being a student.

  3. I very much prefer to do my shopping online. That's all due to a phobia I have of being in places with a large number of people.

  4. I'm just buying stuff for my dad, mom, and stepmom. Can't afford much else after bills and SpeedGamers.

  5. I got something for my mom, dad, brother and sister. That's it. They were all bought (besides my dad's which is hand made) in November.

  6. My funds have been rock bottom for months, so I only just managed to scrape together the money for a gift to my mother.

  7. Parents (By that I mean my mom and her husband... I don't even see my dad enough to know whatever the heck he would even want) and siblings. (I'm cheating a little bit for my little brother's gift though... giving him my old Wii and a few games after buying a Wii U...)

Oh yeah, and also a small gift for a jackass friend who had apparently decided to buy me a gift for my birthday... and since his own birthday happens to be on December 25, well..

I really hate how my family spoils me so darn much... even more since I actually have a job now. I prefer to buy things myself. My parents are already way too kind for letting me live with them, I don't need gifts as well... God damn it... I don't deserve all these things...

    1. I feel like you. Thankfully, I do not have a friend whos birthday is Christmas, and my girlfriend, whos birthday is the 21st, does not particularly care if I give her a present (may have something to do with me living in a different town than her). However, as mentioned below, the family is divided into a**es, my sect, and everyone else in the family. Since I am very blunt about my low self-esteem, I am shocked that people still find me worthy of gifts (granted, I do find celebrating the giving of gifts for birthdays pointless. Christmas, I sort of understand. Sort of). Granted, I am an aspie, so my inferiority complex is completely justified for me. Especially because the other aspies I know are NintendoCapriSun and especially our good buddy Slow, who has become my favorite LPer due to his humor, accent, rants, and no-nonsense approach to 100% running games. Yeeeah, you can see why my inferiority complex is so prevalent. My favorite YouTube personality (Slow), and other people's favorite (Tim) are both aspies...

    2. Errr... I'm not sure you should have told me that without their permission, because I didn't know. Not that I really care, mind you, it's just that I'm not sure if it's alright to talk about it without the permission of the people concerned...

(I remember it being a particularly touchy subject for my own aspie friend...)

    3. It is touchy only for me only with people I actually know in real life. Besides, will they find out?...

  8. I am too young to be able to buy gifts for everyone, and even if I were old enough, it would still be uncomfortable around so many people. Technically, I made a gift to everyone in the form of my 2012 conspiracy video (other than the recorder, no money was ever spent on the supplies needed for my video from my pocket). Personally, I find it as just an excuse to get children and others what they want. Sure, some of us Christians defend it by saying that Christ cannot receive birthday presents, so we must, but I still do not get it. Besides, no matter how much you want something, if you pay for it with your own money, you will have more satisfaction than if you simply decided to get it as a gift...

Also, my family is not exactly the best. My sect is all right for what it is worth (still has many problems), but, with a few exceptions, the rest of the family are either unlikable, or I barely know them. I do not like spending time with the extended family unless I must. Sometimes, my parents let me come home earlier than them (I am not afraid to do a little walking)...

Of course, all some people in my area want is snow because we barely have gotten any here...

  9. I'm too young to buy presents for everyone as well as I'm only 15, but if I did have an income I'd probably just buy presents for close relations anyway (my parents, my brother, maybe my grandmother), but that'd be about it. But yes, all I do is GET presents.

  10. My family is cutting back because they're moving, but I'm finally making money with my 2 jobs so I'm cool with buying stuff for all my friends.

    1. Normally, when someone's blocked and they have no clue know why, it's for first-commenting.
