New poll: Have you played Star Road?

In the wake of my most recent LP announcement, I want to know how many of you actually know what game I'm talking about. Have you played Super Mario Star Road? Have you even heard of it? I have a pretty good idea of what's going to win, but I'd like to ask nonetheless.

Edit: Well damn, all my votes were lost again. Screw this. I'll get back to polls once they get their shit together.

  1. Nope. The only SM64 romhack I've heard of is Kaizo Mario 64, and that's only because Bikdip LP'd it. I know there's a thriving SMW romhack community, but I rarely hear about any others.

    1. It's probably because making a SM64 hack, especially a good one, is much more complicated. Especially when you make an entirely new world, unlike Kaizo which just added Chuckyas and fire everywhere.

    2. Hi fellow BidkipOnaBus fan.

There was also Super Mario 74... which wasn't supposed to be particularly challenging but rather a new Mario game built with the SM64 engine, but because my last attempt at making a N64 emulator work on my computer didn't end well, I have never played it myself and Bidkip never finished his LP of it, so I don't really know much more than you probably do about it...

  2. I haven't gotten too far in it but I have played part of it. Not even to the first Bowser level though... The last thing I remember is Rawest Forest climbing these ruins or something and the camera killing me.

  3. Yeah, I have played it. It's quite fun, but it has a few glitches. I haven't beaten it, though, as I've only gotten 41 stars.

I do wonder... Is this going to be a blind run of the hack? By "blind", I mean "never played it beforehand".

    1. He said that he already did a 100% run of the game, so the answer would be no.

    2. I believe I've said twice in the video that I've beaten it 100%. Otherwise I wouldn't have done it at all. I mean, MaximusBlack did it blind, and he spent an impossible amount of time on some stars. Especially the one I think the comment above yours was refering to (and yes, Mario-cam is absolutely mandatory for that star).

    3. Oh, and I guess I should add, even if I never touched the game before I've seen MaximusBlack do it, so two thirds of the stars in the game would've been known to me regardless.

    4. Oops, sorry for that question, then.

..although, at the same time, I feel a bit stupid for asking that question, since you never do blind Let's Plays. So... yeah, what was I thinking when I asked that.

  4. The problems with most good ROM hacks is something I like to call "Parallel Worlds Syndrome". The game looks real expansive and unique (like Zelda: Parallel Worlds) But is extremely rage inducing hard. This game though not as savestate required as that ROM hack is no exception.

  6. Nope, I have never heard of it. Just like ShadianVise, I've only heard of Kaizo Mario 64 and that's about it when it comes to Mario 64 hacks.

    1. The only reason I've heard of it is because I follow the ROM hacking community like a hawk. Heck, I've made a few (awful) ones in the past, hence the reason mod(ification) is in my username. I also remember when texture hacking was a big deal for SM64 (6-8ish years ago).
