Poll change: DW abilities, take two

Back in March, I made a poll about the most anticipated DW abilities (though it was only for gen 1-4 Pokémon), and both runaway winners, Ditto and Breloom, obtained theirs in BW2, along with other favorites like Lugia and Ho-Oh. So now it's time for a second take, now that the number of Pokémon without them is much lower, and gen 5 Pokémon started getting theirs! (Note that this factors in the fact that Gothitelle will be getting Shadow Tag next month, so if that fact makes you want Chandelure less it's something to think about.)

As for the previous poll on early Japanese releases, 165 voters out of 321 say they make them want the game even more, 67 say playing yourself is what really matters, 53 claim those releases somewhat dampen their anticipation, and 36 hate hate HATE being spoiled before the international release. Of course, it often depends on the game, but this was intended as a general question.

  1. I'll go for Lightningrod Zapdos, if only because it's a much better Thundurus-I.

    1. Never noticed Zapdos had priority Thunder Wave and priority Taunt. You know, the things that got Thundurus-I banned?

    2. Perhaps 'better' isn't the right word in this situation. I sort of came off as a douchebag as well, which I apologize for. What I mean is that Zapdos will probably fit into the metagame better as a whole. It can fit great on rain teams, providing a valuable electric immunity that can be troublesome to rain abusers, like Tornadus-T, Keldeo, and (if it ever drops) Manaphy. Zapdos also has access to recovery, which makes repeated switch-ins with stealth rock up much more bearable. Its importance can be compounded by the fact that there are a lot of threats that can force both out with ease, causing either repeated switch-ins or death to the poke.

That being said, I suppose Thundurus can work better on offensive rain teams with hazard support, since Thundurus often only needs rocks or a layer of spikes to ensure many OHKOs. I guess it really depends on what type of team you are running and whom your teammates are, though feel free to disagree with me...

    3. While I agree that Lightningrod would definitely get Zapdos back in the game, I'm not sure it would tear everything apart.

  2. Was tempted to go for Iron Fist Conkeldurr as it's the only non-Ditto one I want other than Contrary Serperior, but Guts and Sheer Force are decent abilities anyway, unlike Overgrow which pales in comparison to Contrary Leaf Storm.

  3. Am I the only one excited for Ice Body Regice? I mean I'm probably the only guy in his right mind that plays Hail though (or maybe I'm not right of mind.)

    1. Oddly enough, Regice was third in the last poll behind Ditto and Breloom. Then again, Serperior and Chandelure weren't in that poll, either...

    2. Ice Body Regice is cool (hur hur hur) but I doubt most people will care until hail in general gets a major buff to make it more viable.

    3. Yeah I wonder what they'll do to help improve hail next...maybe make ice type not completely awful defensively? Nah I'm sure that they won't want to mess with type chart this far in.

  4. I'm interested in LightningRod Zapdos, since it's theorymonned to completely shake up the VGC metagame...

  5. Chandelure being my favorite pokemon, has my vote. Even though I already use it as much as possible in the metagame already, shadow tag will be a fun little thing to play around with.
