New info on Global Link in BW2

Check out Serebii for the details. It's set to be similar to the one in BW1, but the info I think we're all interested in is, will the Dream World be bearable? Will we get new abilities? At the very least, we'll be getting new areas and Pokémon. One of the new areas is called the Cool Hole, which implies a heavy Ice-type population. Looking at the Ice-types that don't have their DW abilities yet, we have a few:

- Pickpocket Weavile. Are you serious? Pressure is the best option on a Pokémon with 70/65/85 defenses and a shitty defensive typing? PASS.
- Thick Fat Mamoswine: While they currently exist, they were only given through a special distribution as male Mamoswines. Meaning no Swinub/Piloswine-only moves, and no egg moves either, which is a crippling flaw.
- Moody Glalie: Banned ability, whoop-dee-doo.
- Cursed Body Froslass: Meh, interesting novelty, but Snow Cloak is far more helpful.
- Soundproof Abomasnow: Could be useful in lower tiers where Snow Warning is banned, but an absolute joke in OU.

Of course I didn't mention Snow Cloak Articuno and Ice Body Regice (for all that they'd be a nice improvement) because I'm not expecting legendaries to be distributed there. As for gen 5 Pokémon, it's still unknown whether we'll actually get some of them this time, but the Ice-types with DW abilities are Weak Armor Vanilluxe and Swift Swim Beartic (!!!). So overall, Mamoswine is the only one worth looking forward to. Of course, we're going to be getting Pokémon from other types, but which ones? Who knows.

Speaking of the Dream World, you'll be able to visit it once every 20 hours instead of 24 hours like before. I'm going to assume it's because of low traffic. Gee, I wonder why?

  1. "It also showcases a whole new promotion saying there is a special feature if you have a Black or White game and a Black 2 or White 2 game registered."

This is another thing that got my attention when I read about this on Serebii. I'm just praying whatever this special feature is isn't a let down.

    1. You'd be surprised, Skill Link is only a very minor improvement over Technician. We're talking 11% more damage here, though Skill Link also comes with a better sub-breaking capability.

  3. I was thinking about it and Weavile with Pickpocket could have some use. I'm not too sure, but if Pickpocket lets the stolen held item become the users held item, then it could see some use with Fake Out. It could cripple things that thrive on held items such as Pokémon that use Choice items to do serious damage. This would probably mean Weavile has to sacrifice a held item slot, but Fake Out has priority.

If Pickpocket is Thief in an ability form then it would be even more useless than I thought. If memory serves, then Thief only takes away an item temporarily in a battle and it can't be used. So yeah.

    1. Actually, Thief is what you said in the first paragraph. And so does Pickpocket.

    2. Then wouldn't Pickpocket have some gimmicky use? I think it could have slight use over Pressure.

    3. My bad, it's when the OPPONENT makes physical contact with the user of Pickpocket that the item is stolen. So it's even worse.

    4. Ok. It sucks then. Weavile's defenses suck to make use of that. Would a Focus Sash do any good since it disappears after use? I'm just trying to find a better ability than Pressure for Weavile. Not like it'll make a huge difference, but still. Freaking pressure.

Edit: Meant to post this as a reply to your post. Not as a stand alone post.
