Gen Copyright Infringement

(Yes, ANOTHER friggin' Gen Zed post. It's not my fault this is turning out to be the unintentionally funny saga of the year.)

Because God forbid that those people have any original ideas. What do we have here... The Usual Suspects, South Park, Scooby-Doo, Doctor Who, the Wizard of Oz... and they're selling this for money. Pretty sure this doesn't even count as satire and thus doesn't fall under fair use. Please have one or more of these get on their cases, HARD.

You know what the really sad part is, though? For all that everyone is making fun of this gong show, we have to remember that most of the people involved (which means EVERYONE aside from Black and Goldstein themselves) are doing this as their first gig. They're looking to make a name for themselves, and use this as a possible springboard into other jobs. And unfortunately, they've stumbled upon these two endless voids of failure where cleverness creativity visual appeal common sense EVERYTHING goes to die. It's unfortunate, but the best thing to do at their point would be to NOT add this to their résumé, and not ever mention this to potential employers. Hell, even AFTER I was hired by someone else I'd still want to keep my mouth shut because being associated to Gen Zed might be enough of a reason to get sacked.

Good news, though: apparently some people are actually working on a Gen Zed parody series, and this appears to be really serious. If nothing that's ever been said could faze the Black/Goldstein OTP, this might actually be the thing that really makes them realize "we done fucked up". But wait, it gets better. Someone suggested to the people behind the parody that they try to get ahold of a trans man to play the lead role, then do everything in their power to have the first episode out before Gen Zed's (which was pushed back again recently, this time to December). Just to have Gen Zed's entire reason for existing becoming (even more of) a complete lie. Of course that was only a suggestion, the odds of that happening are slim, but man, if it happened I'd be the happiest man on Earth.

  1. I also recognise The Beatles band in that lot. But if anyone is going to be firing the lawsuits, it's going to be South Park or Doctor Who

  2. My, my. No wonder nobody wants to pick this up. And Nickelodeon picked up BREADWINNERS...

  3. I still can't believe we're still talking about this piece of crap. I honesty didn't care about the shirts, although the designs look cool.....I GUESS. Still doesn't make me like Gen Shit. Meanwhile, people still wonder why certain companies pick up stuff like Breadwinners (Although, I actually like that show.....)

    1. I can't believe it either. But if you'll allow me this analogy, if they were Minecraft players, they'd be the only people ever to craft a diamond shovel. They're THIS passionate about digging holes.

  4. I think you forgot to mention "Abbey Road" by the Beatles, and Kiss.

  5. Not gonna lie, I actually kinda want an "I Hate People" mug.

But that would mean giving them money...

  6. Yeah, Gen Zed spiraled out of control. Is if funny? Oh hell yeah, this has been one of the most entertaining stories of the year so far. Even the most innocent of criticisms gets attacked by the Gen Zed crew, and it has been amazing.

Speaking of copyrights, Nintendo has recently decided to start cracking down on speedruns and ROM hacks. Guess it's just Nintendo showing us how much they hate Youtube content creators who, you know, promote Nintendo games.

    1. Why speedruns...? ROM Hacks I can kinda understand, but if they don't have anything against LPs.

    2. God damn it, Nintendo. Why do they have to be so ass backwards when it comes to online content?
...Yes, they've been removing speedrun content that was "tool-assisted", in other words done on an emulator. So while I don't think GDQ is going anywhere, it's still completely fucking stupid.
Oh, and 99.9% of Slow's content is emulator based, so we might end up kissing all that goodbye.

    3. Why the hell did I add an "if" in my reply? Comment editing feature when?

And I thought Nintendo was "ass backwards" with a lot of things. Or at least very... dumb.

Also gonna go ahead and remain on the cautiously optimistic side by thinking that Slow's stuff will stay up. From my experience, if something's tool assisted, they usually say as such in the title or description, making it a dead giveaway, whereas Slow has the benefit of only playing 1 ROM Hack and only mentioning here and there in a few videos that he does his stuff via emulator.

    4. Nintendo also doesn't like Super Metroid much because it is prime fodder for non-TAS speed runs, so they have fun wrong to Nintendo...

  7. New anime will be called XY and Z, so I highly doubt that the games will be Xz and Yz. Also, Zygarde is apparently getting two alternate Formes (three if the Cell Forme counts). With how they're labeled (10%, 50% being the snake, and Perfect), I also doubt that there will be two deluxe games. Hey, in story, people say Gen 6 went backwards from Gen 5 anyway...
