Hey Satan, wanna buy a pair of skis?

A Smogon suspect test actually FAILED. This hasn't happened in a long time, and the end result is that Mega Metagross gets to wreak havoc on the OU metagame for a while longer. A simple majority was reached, but a 60% supermajority was needed, and that was missed by a hair. I'm surprised, I thought for sure it was going to be a goner. Not by the same outrageous margins most of the previous suspects enjoyed, but I thought Tough Claws was going to mean the end for it. Guess not. I wonder if this means we're reaching some sort of balance in the gen 6 metagame?

As a side note, Feraligatr was quickbanned from NU with its recent acquisition of Sheer Force. No surprise there, it's likely UU caliber at this point. It just might mirror Serperior's slow march upwards, though I can't see Feraligatr actually making it to OU like Serperior is set to be.

  1. When WAS the last time something survived a Smogon suspect test? The last one I can remember was back in gen 5 when Keldeo survived a suspect test.

    1. Not counting the Ubers tests, the last thing that survived a vote was Kangaskhanite in Doubles. That took place all the way back to June 2014. So not counting Ubers, Smogon banned 18 of 18 things that were put to a vote since the last time something was declared not broken in a vote.

Either Smogon voters are a particularly ruthless bunch, tier leaders are very reluctant to put troublesome things to a vote, or both.

    2. Seeing how Mega Metagross is staying, I'm far more inclined to say they typically don't suspect test things unless there's a genuine chance that they're getting banned. Had the tier leaders been even a bit trigger-happy, Charizard and Pinsir would've gotten tested too last year.

  2. Didn't Deoxys E fail when Genesect and Lucario were tested?
