Information on the final HW DLC

Of course this one is far smaller than the rest, being only three dollars instead of eight (unless you bought the season pass, then that's a moot point anyway), but it still features some nice goodies. The free update that comes with it features new potions, new medals and another level cap increase. The latter feels unnecessary considering how little content is being added this time, but I guess it answers the question of how Twili Midna, Young Link and Tingle will get their full three rows of hearts. It's also meant to solve the problems with the longer load times since the MM pack came out... let's hope it works out a bit better than the PS3 version of Sonic 2006, eh?

As for the DLC, aptly named the "Boss Pack", it consists of two extra scenarios for Challenge Mode: one where you fight a neverending gauntlet of giant bosses (maybe as a more difficult version of the boss rush mission on the rewards map?), and one where you FIGHT AS GANON. No no no no no, not Ganondorf, GANON. It goes without saying that he's not going to be playable in any other modes, but that's still the ultimate form of fanservice (then again, the ENTIRE GAME is fanservice, so...). These scenarios will feature some extra costumes as rewards, and Link, Lana, Zelda, Ganondorf and Cia will be the lucky recipients. Presumably these are going to be costumes based on the giant bosses, since everything else in this pack is.

  1. ...And people thought I was crazy for thinking there would be a mode added for this DLC that would add the giant bosses as playable characters. Granted it's just one of them but still.

  2. I'm still hating the idea of the boss rush thing. Giant bosses got incredibly boring to fight before Legend Mode was even over, and fighting multiple at once is nothing but frustrating. Grinding on the lower-left tile of the MQ map is fun except for the part where you fight two Manhandlas at once (and Argorok if you're not fast enough to take him out before they get there).

    1. I just suck at any boss rush, period.
Also, I got used to pay attention to fighting 2 bosses at the same time by playing a lot of Monster Hunter, so it only gets slightly irritating, but still manageable for me. It's when there are more than 2 that I start losing my mind. (Looking at you, Boss Rush reward map.)

    2. Why does it have to be Manhandlas? I hate those things more than I hate the Imprisoned.

    3. Oh, by the way, I'm thinking that maybe, depending on how hard the bosses are, it could be a solid way to farm gold giant boss mats for those level 3 defense badges. Bring a Materials+ weapon, the materials potion, and you're set. I haven't tried that potion yet (because it's expensive as hell and I don't need the mats that badly just yet), but I hear it works so well you get more golds than silvers with that combination.

    4. A simple Materials+ skill is enough to frequently get boss gold materials on more difficult stages, like the aforementioned MQ KO stage. I only got one or two Manhandla saplings throughout all my 250 hours of playing before I started grinding on that stage, but with a Materials+ skill stapled on every weapon I grind with, I end up getting one about every other time. But yeah, I imagine the boss challenge will make that even easier. Can you use potions on the challenge stages, though?

  3. That's neat, but kinda underwhelming. Oh well, the content already in should last for a while, especially since I have a new Monster Hunter game to play with as well.

    1. Well it DOES cost less than half of what the other packs did, so it wouldn't make much sense to go in expecting a lot more.

    2. But we didn't know it'd be cheaper beforehand. With a name such as "Boss Pack", I expected something along the lines of more giant bosses and maybe 1 or 2 playable villains. Vaati would have been cool...

    3. Oh wait, I suddenly have doubts... Did we know the price beforehand ? I don't remember...

    4. Yes, we did. They announced the pricing for the season pass and each individual pack back when the game first came out in Japan.

    5. Never mind then. Seems like my poor memory failed me again.
