Has the PotW crew ever played Pokémon?

I mean seriously. They've written some dumb shit before, but Trick being in "Other options" for Gothitelle just might take the cake. They say it's "very gimmicky". BULLSHIT. If there's one move you absolutely want on every single Gothitelle set, if there's one move that makes Gothitelle absolutely lethal, if there's one move that makes it worth using over Mega Gengar in ubers, it's gotta be Trick. Meanwhile, who the fuck uses dual screens on Gothitelle? Or a moveset with four offensive moves? Or Frisk or Competitive at all? Seriously, they never say "both could be useful, but they're worthless compared to Shadow Tag" like they usually do, and on most individual recommended sets they include Frisk and/or Competitive as possibilities. No. NO. NO! You never use Gothitelle without Shadow Tag, and you never use Gothitelle without Trick! It's that simple!

Also, I may have said this before, but it's "capitalize", not "monopolize", which means something else entirely. And they made that mistake Every. Single. Week. They really never learn.

  1. I was scratching my head as to why they thought Frisk was a good trait. If you have Shadow Tag, use it and never look back.

  2. This is another testament to how few options Gothitelle really has while staying considerably significant/viable in higher tiers. Without Shadow Tag/Trick, what does it truly have? It could've been a decent sweeper at the very least, but having 65 base Speed sealed its fate as a S.T. user(unless an even more powerful ability comes up for some bizarre reason, anyway). 75 base HP and only having Rest as a healing option also hurts it when it comes to being exceptionally bulky.

    1. If it had Recover, it'd get suspect tested in a heartbeat. Mark my words. If anything, much like Serperior, it's being absurdly inept beyond their ability and their one incredibly cheesy move that keeps them in check at all.

    2. Oh, I'm not denying that. If it had a reliable recovery move, it would be indubitably dangerous. I'm just saying that they don't realize how much a few moves and new abilities can make or break a Pokémon when it would have nothing to distinguish themselves from others of the same type otherwise. Pokémon like Garchomp and Salamence still held their own very well because their stats and abilities were almost ideal for them in the context of past generations.

  3. I think they're trying to be different. 'Different' just doesn't mean 'good'.

Trick is gimmicky on most things without Shadow Tag, but it's vital to the best way to use Gothitelle. I think they might've said it was gimmicky because they were giving consideration to other abilities, but who even considers Frisk or Competitive over freaking Shadow Tag?

  4. The next PotW: Wobbuffet. With a special focus on the telepathy variant.

    1. On a serious note, next week is Cresselia. We're totes going to be told Moonlight is gimmicky due to crap PP or something.

    2. And RestTalk is Cresselia's best method of healing.

    3. And Cresselia is best suited for a Scarf set...

  5. It's sort of like they forgot Gothitelle gets Shadow Tag and, after remembering, just tacked it on to every set as if it's an "oh, by the way" option, instead of the only thing that makes it worth using.
