Serebii's PotW invents a new way of messing up

Today's Groudon day, and this mess of a column managed to screw up monumentally. If you look at the recommended doubles and triples set, it recommends Aura Sphere, Flash Cannon, Protect and either Substitute or Nasty Plot. Problem is, it doesn't learn many of those moves, and even if it did it would have little use for them. Heck, in the description underneath moves like Precipice Blades, Eruption and Rock Slide are mentioned.

Wanna know what happened? This is a straight copypaste of the Lucario PotW article, and they didn't even change the moves, BUT they changed the nature, EVs, ability and item. Absolutely amazing.

I gotta say though, I found "Mega Rayquaza exists" in Groudon's drawbacks to be unintentionally funny, if only because every existing uber has that issue. "It's not Mega Rayquaza" can also count as a drawback for absolutely everything, in the same vein.

  1. On a side note, I'd like to see level mechanics changed eventually.
I want levels to stop counting for stats; only IVs, EVs Moves and Evolutions, but level ones would have the same base stat values as a level 100 (minus IVs and EVs of course). That way the game could move more towards strategy rather than grinding. That would also mean that low-leveled things can actually pose a threat, shying the game away from the semi-slog of OHKOs on hordes of wild Pokemon. It'd make the game more entertaining, and increase realism; Gym leaders or Grunts could actually be level 60-70 in the early game, and wouldn't be game-breaking, just challenging.

    1. I understand levels would only count for moves then? What about stone evolutions?

Though, if anything from random Pidgeys to Dragonites poses a danger, I think the game becomes not so accessible.

  2. Haha, I stopped taking PotW seriously when Blue Harvest was writing them, but it's good to know that she wasn't the only problem. Giving Serebii the benefit of the doubt, they must be slammed this week thanks to the release of ORAS, but I would rather they take a week off from some site features than do a shitty rush job.

  3. At least "It's not Mega Rayquaza" is a pretty serious thing...Not that having six is possible or a good idea...

  4. Oh, and Slowflake? Gamefreak changed the Trendy Phrase. It's now an item in your bag followed by "festival", "master", "school" and a few others, so no more Adult Anime.

    1. You can say it to Gabby and Ty, though...
Oh, and I can assure you that Maxie DOES grab the correct Orb this time...

    2. Yeah, I know. You can still make Tiny Mushroom Party, though... I guess.

    5. You take what you can get, namely Gabby and Ty. Especially if, like me, you have to check to see if Regigigas is available before the Elite Four (my Pokemon are around Level 50, so it will do a number if this isn't a blitz). Oh, and then, I have to save Hoenn from Primal Groudon...Without a Master Ball because of Deoxys. Bear in mind that Gardevoir has Hypnosis, Milotic resists Fire, and Sceptile resists Ground...

    6. Sableye and Spiritomb absolutely wall Deoxys, even at level 1, so I don't really recommend using your Master Ball on it.

    7. Then it becomes a matter of me really having nothing else really worth it. Most of my team is about 50, so Groudon shouldn't be that much of an issue. It doesn't have Dragon Ascent in battle, so Rayquaza shouldn't be much of an issue either. The Mirage Legendaries are all Level 50. Regigigas is far from the most intimidating Pokemon out there. I don't like having the Master Ball in my inventory, mocking me...

  5. Uber tier isn't supposed to be balanced, so Mega Rayquaza doesn't bother me. But I belive Giratina should get something similar in the Sinnoh remakes to even it out...

    1. There's a difference between ubers the way they've been since gen 3 and... this, though. The uber metagame was never really balanced, but at least it was playable, even with the likes of Arceus and Xerneas hitting the scene. Now we got something so good people say Mega Aggron is a terrible deterrent because it prevents you from running said broken mon yourself.
