Mega Salamence considered for a quickban

But honestly, is anyone really surprised? Salamence was always missing a viable secondary STAB, and now it gets one with 130+ power after factoring in Aerilate. WITH NO DRAWBACKS. Of course this was going to happen, even if the attack boost was fairly insignificant. And maybe because of that, too, now it's bulky enough to set up with impunity, and exploit that trait a thousand times better than Mega Tyranitar ever did.

    1. Or NOT use, as the case may be.

    2. That depends on how good it is in Ubers...

    3. Nothing stopping you from using it in wifi battles on cartridge, though.

    4. Exactly. It's gonna be relegated mainly to that without the titans of Gen 3 because it hits harder than Mega Pinsir (who's a threat in and of itself). I wonder if people will use it and Rayquaza like back in Gen 4 to clean up each other's threats. Probably not, given that both will absolutely thrive on their Megas...

  2. You know it's bad when a pokemon is banned before the game is released. And I know that Smogon has its metas and whatnot to test new pokemon (like dreamworld meta), but regardless.

  3. On a similar subject I have seen people suggest that Greninja could end up being suspect tested with the release of OR/AS. It gained a very nifty tool in the transition by the name of Gunk Shot and with only 40 ATK ev's and a neutral nature, it's able to OHKO/2HKO anything that could have checked/countered it before, such as Sylveon, Mega Gardevoir and Azumaril.
