Nonsensical tidbit of the day

Primal Kyogre can't do jack shit to Primal Groudon with Water moves when Desolate Land is active, but Golduck (FUCKING GOLDUCK) gets a guaranteed OHKO with Surf. Whose idea was it for Cloud Nine and Air Lock to work on Desolate Land and Primordial Sea, exactly? Not that I'm complaining, of course, at least those pathetic abilities get a slight buff, but still, it makes little sense. It also means that Rayquaza doesn't even need to turn mega to disable the Primals' abilities. Though Delta Stream still does a much better job at it, mind you.

  1. Bear in mind that Golduck is still probably going to be outsped. And OHKO'd. Plus, it's Golduck. Why would you use one in the first place? It's like Smogon's joke about Magikarp's main use in gen 4 was switching in on Explosion.

    1. Sorry if I sounded hostile, I was talking to some other people who decided that Golduck should be Uber, and I guess that carried over.

    2. I actually cracked a joke about Golduck going to Ubers when I saw this, but I don't think anyone is actually stupid enough to think it's a thing that should happen.

I mean, fuck, Parasect and Quagsire would have been in Gen 4's Ubers if that was the case.

    3. I'm well aware of that, some people still think uber status is attributed depending on performance in ubers, and not OU.

  2. I'm pretty excited for ORAS Ubers. Primal Groudon and Mega Rayquaza look like they will shake things up a lot. Mega Rayquaza looks like it can punch holes in teams like it's nobody's business with its sick 180/180 attack stats and good 115 base Speed, and then sweep afterwards. Groudon will be a solid Xerneas and Kyogre check all in one, though its Special Defense and Speed are a little on the iffy side. Still, the lack of major weaknesses will help tremendously. Speaking of new Xerneas checks, Mega Metagross and Primal Kyogre could both see some serious use also. The games may be looking worryingly meh, but at least it looks like the competitive side of Pokémon is in for a treat.
