Even more datamining news: gyms/E4 and possible Dex expansion

First we have trainer lineups, including what we all care about, gym leaders and the E4. Seems like the gym leaders have the same teams as in Ruby and Sapphire, because fuck Emerald (that's the word of the day, it seems). Well, the first three gyms have lower levels than before (as hinted by Brawly's Makuhita), Flannery and Norman are about the same, and the last three are higher. So it seems like the level curve may be altered a bit.

As for the E4, their levels are also higher, and they progress the later you get, so it seems like the old method of fighting them in a fixed order is back. Sidney has the same lineup, Phoebe swaps one of her Dusclopses for a Dusknoir, Glacia replaces both Sealeos with two Froslasses (which means FOUR Pokémon in the same evolutionary line!), Drake replaces his Shelgon with a Kingdra, and Steven stays the same, culminating with a level 59 Mega Metagross (FUCK). No word on his Aggron's moveset so far.

Also interesting is the fact that non-Hoenn Dex Pokémon were found in trainer lineups, but scrolling through the text file I've only found them in rematches so far. I'll see if I can find anything that's NOT a rematch, because if there isn't then it may still mean the Hoenn Dex isn't getting expanded. I'll get back to you on that later.

Edit: Okay, so those Pokémon are all rematches or what appears to be post-game content (including the S.S. Tidal)... except for ONE trainer in Victory Road who has a Darmanitan. What is this I don't even.

Also, E4 rematches confirmed?

Sidney: Scrafty 70, Shiftry 70, Sharpedo 70, Zoroark 70, Mandibuzz 70, Mega Absol 72
Phoebe: Banette 71, Mismagius 71, Drifblim 71, Chandelure 71, Dusknoir 71, Mega Sableye 73
Glacia: Abomasnow 72, Beartic 72, Froslass 72, Vanilluxe 72, Walrein 72, Mega Glalie 74
Drake: Altaria 73, Dragalge 73, Kingdra 73, Flygon 73, Haxorus 73, Mega Salamence 75
Steven: Skarmory 77, Claydol 77, Carbink 77, Aerodactyl 77, Aggron 77, Mega Metagross 79

Wallace also has an alternate roster (under the trainer class "Sootopolitan") that matches what he had in Emerald.

And speaking of Wallace, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU MAN?

Edit 2: Additional superboss... WALLY?

Roserade 79, Talonflame 79, Azumarill 79, Magnezone 79, Garchomp 79, Mega Gallade 81

Also, movesets for important trainers are now up. Steven's Aggron knows Earthquake, Stone Edge, Iron Tail and Dragon Claw. Dammit, there goes the joke.

Also, here's some really good news... MAY DOESN'T QUIT HALFWAY THROUGH! The final fight with her features a level 50 fully evolved starter... mega evolved!

Edit 3: Fun fact: The so-called "Mega Hoopa" only has stat boosts that add up to 80 points, suggesting that it might not be, in fact, a mega, and instead an alternate form. If that's the case, then Magician makes a lot more sense (as long as the form change isn't a Giratina type of deal, of course). The Pastebin file even refers to it as "Hoopa-?" instead of "Hoopa-M". Stay tuned.

  1. Metagross will probably be more intimidating than Mega Gardevoir. It takes physical hits far better, so yeah...

    1. And Mega Gardevoir can be a bitch if you're not prepared (or have enough Revives to stall it out, like what happened at the TSG marathon). Plus Mega Metagross can get far better mileage out of its ability. Yeah, this is probably going to go down as one of the hardest Pokémon in the series, if not the hardest.

    2. Wait what Diantha's Gardevoir was challenging? News to me, what'd they do, use level 60s?

    3. Like he said, if you're not prepared, Mega Gardevoir will murder you. Blatantly overleveling and Revive stalling don't count...

    4. I had problem because my team wasn't suited to fight Fairy Pokémon. Well, I had Aegislash who is doubly effective against Gardevoir, but Aegislash is kinda slow.

  2. It looks interesting that all the E4 members use a Mega in the rematch. That's something I feel that they should have done in X and Y

    1. They didn't do it because iirc all of them use Kalos Pokémon as their main Pokémon, and only Diancie has a Mega Evolution among the Kalos Pokémon.

  3. Slowflake, do you think there's a possibility that some things will change from the Demo to the actual game? Like, the issue with TMs being with the move tutors, that's a pretty big oversight, but since this is hidden data in a demo that theoretically shouldn't be accessed, always a chance that the code inside is still incomplete (like they made the demo with the data at 90% completion). Just something to keep in mind that we should take all this data leak at least with a grain of salt until we see the final product.

  4. Even so, odds are the hard copies of the game are already manufactured, and the demo may not be that old, being digital only.

Besides, it clearly shows that a lot of work has gone into picking tutors for Pokémon, and all that kind of stuff. If something changes, it'll be virtually insignificant. Like maybe the Dark Pulse thing. Or maybe Mega Hoopa, if they caught on and did so quickly enough?

  5. I'm not saying MUCH will change, just that the demo had to have been done before the final product (manufacturing probably has only just begun if that, and the demo was probably done two months prior) and that it's plausible that a few things might change like move tutors or some things that make no sense. I'd say probably 90-95% of what see is what we'll get, but things always change a little between the almost finished and the finished product.

    1. Judging by the fact that virtually the entire game's been datamined, it tells me they made the game itself, then the demo on top of it.

  6. Is it possible that the Wallace picture can be made into a viewable image by itself? As much as I like and respect TSG, I don't want to make an account on their site just to see it.

    1. Okay, my bad, I had no idea you needed an account. I'll fix that right away.

    2. Done. I suggest you see it early in the morning, just so you don't lose sleep over it.

(I'm staying off Reddit for a while, seeing as r/Pokemon linked me to this)

  7. I had been sort of wondering about the Hoopa thing, just based on the visuals. All the other Megas mostly resemble their base forms with some added flourishes, but this new Hoopa form...well, it's freaky and doesn't look a damn thing like regular Hoopa, besides a shared color scheme. So it being a new form instead of a Mega would make some sense.

    1. I'd go as far as to say it's more different than any other alternate form to date as well.

  8. At least when it comes to the main game/post-game fights(not counting Battle Resort), it's much better overall than RSE's. I won't complain about that.

    1. Hopefully, you at least get to fight the super bosses at least once a day, if not reset them with the Elite Four a la Red. And again, hope the Legendaries aren't Deathgaze with a better tell (hard to miss swirling clouds of darkness)...
Let's hope the Battle Resort is more than the Battle Maison with a fresh coat of paint...

  9. Agh! At least Wallace isn't Champion...

  10. Welp, considering that in the Adventure Special manga series Wallace is portrayed as a straight, noble and kind man going out with Winona, I wonder if they'll even bother featuring him in a special arc for the remakes. XD
Unless they cop out by saying she actually has that kind of fetish... even though there was no set-up to it at all.
Yes, that's the only thing that comes to my mind after seeing his new design. I'm trying to use a funny hypothesis as some kind of brain bleach...

  11. So it turns out you battle Wallace twice, whereas you only battle the other gym leaders once. What's that all about?

    1. Korrina also had that distinction. What does it mean? I have no clue.
