Introducing the ORAS Mega Evolution Oracle Challenge!

The goal of this is very simple: be the best at predicting the stats of the new mega evolutions and Primal Reversions introduced in ORAS! There's no prize to be won, just bragging rights, but hey, if you're a Poképundit who can't resist a challenge, then this is for you!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to split the 100 extra stat points in the five stats that can be boosted by mega evolution. (You can also write down HP for completion's sake, I don't care one way or the other.) For every point you're off by in any given stat, you'll score a point. The winner is the one that scores the least points, and ties will be broken according to who submitted their entry first. If any Pokémon gets less or more than 100 points (like Mega Alakazam did, presumably because its mega evolution was made prior to its special defense boost in development), the corresponding amount of points will be deducted from all participants' scores. Of course, feel free to use the hints found on Serebii and the official site to give you that extra edge!

Latias and Latios aren't part of the challenge, since their stats are already known. The deadline is either the scheduled launch date, or whenever stuff starts being leaked, whichever comes first. (Probably the latter.) There's still one CoroCoro left, but I'm doing this now because of the lack of time between its likely release and the games coming out.

To get us started, here are my predictions:

Beedrill: 65 HP, 130 Atk, 50 Def, 45 SA, 90 SD, 115 Spd

  2. So we can assume that Groudon and Kyogre will be nearly unstoppable, if those defenses are correct.

    1. I think that's the point. The only thing that is supposed to stop them is Mega Rayquaza or each other. Arceus would fare slightly better if Kyogre came in while it was at +2 at least, of course. Imagine the Uber Doubles...

    2. Regardless, Uber bans probably await. Hello Uber Ubers tier.

    4. I suppose I've been commenting quite a bit, but speaking of HP, an interesting gimmick I'd like to see is like a hyper-aegislash:
A pokemon with a stat spread similar to Shuckle (but more HP, obviously), but upon Mega-Evolving trades just about everything into Attack (probably 255), along with the addition of Huge Power, too. This would mean its defenses would drop down to maybe 1 each, and remember that its speed would basically leave it outsped by a Slowpoke.

What do you think of that, is it a decent idea for a future generation, or would it be horrifically overpowered?

      Delete
    5. It would basically be stuck using priority moves in hope of dishing out any damage before dying a horrible death. It would only be somewhat usable under Trick Room and need tons of support to even work... Also, priority moves would obliterate it instantly as well, no matter the condition it's used in.

      Delete
    6. True. I was kind of going for a focus-punch thing, but I cannot design a competitive 'mon worth anything.

      Delete
    7. Don't worry about it. I might be able to fairly easily find gameplay-related flaws with a design thanks to all the time I've spent listening to Slowflake (and all that reading on Smogon too I guess), but it's not like I could come up with a better idea myself, so I'd never hold it against you.

  4. I really can't say, I have little experience with this kind of thing.
But I can say that I am even more hyped for the trendy phrases. That part of your Emerald LP was simply unforgettable- I hope they haven't censored more.

    4. Yeah, I noticed there seemed to be some vinegar to those kind of replies, but I didn't say anything in case it was all in my head. If there's really any frustration involved I think it's more directed at themselves for making a mistake than anything though.
Kind of the same with people getting upset at Grammar Nazis even if they stay polite.

    5. Sorry about the sharp tongue with my reply, I didn't want to constantly re-post the same wall of text over and over. And yeah, as 'The Seeker of All Formulas' stated, I tend to be a perfectionist with mistakes.

    6. Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Saying "better?" instantly means I was snapping? If I was on angry mode, I would've said "happy now?" or something like that. By now I sound like I am either retconning my statement or covering my arse. Guess I don't know my own strength.

Seriously though, lashing out on the host would be the worst idea in this scenario. The only frustration really comes from having to type more stuff. Sorry for this misunderstanding guys.

    7. Well, I did say I wasn't SURE you were both snapping, just that it was a feeling I got. I basically replied this fully aware you'd both dissipate the misunderstanding pretty quickly if there was one. I wasn't criticizing nor attacking any of you.

  10. I'm not sure I can come up with any possible ideas for what the base stats will be, with the exception of Gallade, but what I think Gallade's will be has already been stated.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, Smogon have decided in its Ubers suspect test that Mega Gengar isn't the problem: Shadow Tag itself is the problem. Seriously, in the Ubers environment the only viable user of Shadow Tag IS Mega Gengar due to Wobbuffet's fall from grace and Gothitelle just not being as effective. The problem is not with the ability, but with one user of the Ability. This is Gen 5's Garchomp + Sand Veil all over again.
