Gogoat = new meta

Serebii's Pokémon of the Week sections are a source of endless amusement. From last weekend's article on Gogoat:

Its physical Attack and its physical movepool is just phenomenal

As a reminder, and I think you'll need it because who the hell uses Gogoat, its attack stat is 100. ONE HUNDRED. That's apparently phenomenal. Well, it is... when it's backed by Huge Power. And I'm not seeing Huge Power anywhere here. Please don't show whoever wrote this Scizor's or Garchomp's attack stats, else I think you may have blood on your hands.

And its physical movepool? Hardly phenomenal. Sure, Horn Leech is a great move, but aside from that, what does Gogoat really have? Earthquake, fine, but then you have a shitload of much less interesting moves, such as Return, Aerial Ace, Rock Slide, Wild Charge, Brick Break... nothing worth getting excited over. And the worst part about it is, the Assault Vest, which is just as popular as Leftovers, is confined to "Other Options" while the Choice Band, which you'll NEVER see on Gogoat, has its own section. What. Speaking of the Assault Vest, did I mention it forces you to use two of the "lesser" moves I mentioned earlier? When Aerial Ace of all things is part of one of your standard sets, I don't think you have any right to call your physical movepool "phenomenal". Oh, right, having Earthquake automatically makes your physical attacking prowess phenomenal. Sorry, I forgot. Sure, it's not as bad as Keldeo's special movepool (which means Keldeo would be uber if it had any kind of special movepool), but... phenomenal. Seriously.

  1. *Sorry. Fixed some typos*
OK, now I think the PotW writers are just getting desperate. Yeah, they're not Smogon analysis writers, so you can't expect them to ALWAYS write amazing and insightful competitive play articles, but this is embarrassing. I honestly don't get why they feel the need to keep a weekly schedule for these sections. Obviously, they aren't bad people just because they make mistakes while writing about something that's related to a video game series, but they're just hurting themselves with these now.

    1. What next? Them saying Dedenne is viable in any way?...

    2. Even considering what they said about Gogoat and Druddigon and (possibly) the rampant Pachimania, that might not happen, but it may not be impossible now... And that's SCARY. 431 BST, subpar Sp. Attack and miserable Attack, no Special Fairy moves(only physical: Play Rough), only having Speed be over 100 (101, to be precise) without anything to back it up...
Though, I'm not sure that Serebii's PotW writers are THAT stupid(certainly not GameFAQs level), but maybe I should take it with a grain of salt JUST in case.

  2. Give Keldeo Ice Beam and a move to beat Jellicent and Slowbro/Slowking (preferably something like Shadow Ball). Then, it would be Uber...

  3. So, are you interested by the SuperSmashClub events that have just been announced today ? Pretty surprising they'd make something for a game as big as Super Smash Bros exclusive to Canada. I already planned to go to the Montreal event on November 8 with a friend.

Also, if you had reached Platinum status on Club Nintendo for the year 2013-2014, you can get your special demo with an unlimited amount of plays unlike the public demo... Which doesn't amount to much since there's only 5 characters in it. It does have local multiplayer though, which gives it much more replayability than the usual demo.

    3. Oh. I thought it'd be something I'd be interested in. Oh well, at the pace I'm going I'm not going to be done with Xenoblade for a while anyway, so I can keep myself busy.

    4. I expected as much, but I wanted to take a shot since it's so rare that Nintendo is favoring Canada over the U.S. for events like these, so I'm just showing it around to every Canadian Nintendo player I know. You know, so they see that we exist too and we care. The official website for Nintendo of Canada is pitiful.

    5. It's not exactly something I use very often - okay, so I don't use it at all. Still, I'm used to Canada getting the short end of the stick, so I see what you mean. At least we're getting the easier way to get the Pinsirite/Heracronite event. When IS that happening, anyway?

    6. Dunno. I tried going on the Pokémon Trainer Club using my Global Link account, but aside from seeing the settings of my "custom trainer" appearance to every single most hipsterish option possible by default for some reasons I don't understand, I didn't find anything. And yes, I checked the inbox, don't worry, I wasn't entirely distracted by that previously-mentioned atrocity.

    7. Yeah, I only found one checkbox in the settings, so I figured that must be it. That's what I told my brother, too... we're both gonna be pretty pissed if we somehow miss out on it.

    8. Oh, that's what that is. Then darn. This is going to be more complex than I expected... I had to create a 3rd email address because the 2 I already had wouldn't work for some reason and since I NEVER check said address, well... I kinda forgot its password. Also, I'm kinda encountering the problem of not being able to Game Sync anymore because I had sync'd my old file first and I can't sync the new one yet without deleting the previous one, which can take weeks according to their warning.
Why must online services be so complex at times ? (Just complaining for the sake of it, I realize it's for security measures.)

    3. Put them back up? I'm guessing you thought I kept a copy of them, and I'm also guessing you thought that archive was mine to start with.
