It's been a while since I've been this torn.

On one hand, I think the Korean guy with the Pachirisu winning the championship would be the single most hilarious thing in video game history, and a memory all of us fans will take to our graves, so it's impossible not to root for him unless you know his opponent personally. But at the same time, all the wood-league, Ash-team-loving casuals will be pestering us for years on end. "See, Karen was right, you CAN win with your favorites!" All because a guy who's far more skilled than any of us to start with took one of the objectively worst Pokémon ever conceived to the championship. And despite the rest of his team being bog standard, mind you.

Either way, remember to watch the grand finale tomorrow, because we could be witnessing history! #thebulkisreal

  1. I think the Pokemon communities are segregated enough at this point that you won't have to hear much from the scrubs unless you go to the places where they congregate. Once someone tries to take a team of low-tier Pokemon to real competition, they're going to get their asses handed to them if they're not geniuses at prediction. Anyone who seriously turns to Smogon knows the difference between teambuilding for winning and teambuilding for fun, and I think anyone else is either a moron or trolling.

    1. Unless you're like me and have OCD with your favorites being mostly the good/decent Pokemon (and Sudowoodo). Then, good team building and fun team building coincide. Just a little. Then again, my Pokemon are geared towards Singles. I'd be screwed in Doubles...

  2. Cue this going onto the Heartwarming/Awesome entry on TVTropes, claiming that "see, Ash loved his Pokemon like he did, Karen>Smogon, Ash is our childhood hero".

Seriously, Pachirisu of all things? Then again, Spinda of all things has a use in Doubles (Skill Swap Contrary to Slaking).

    1. Since Clefable and Togekiss aren't allowed, that leaves Pachirisu, Lucario and Furret as the only Follow Me users. And while Lucario is easily the better all-around Pokémon, Pachirisu has slightly more bulk and less weaknesses, while also featuring guaranteed paralysis that flies right past Taunt as well as Super Fang.

  3. This is completely unrelated, but Slow, which is better nowadays - Pinsir, Scizor or Heracross?
