Breaking news: Lucario is weak to Psychic moves.

Or so Serebii's PotW writers claim, at least. I mean come on. Fail Blast is what Psychics like Alakazam would use against it, not freaking Psychic - damage calcs say Psychic from Mega Alakazam falls just short of the OHKO against Lucario (or even Mega Lucario, since its special defense isn't boosted).

  1. Speaking of PotW writers, did you hear that BlueHarvest scammed some guy and got banned from writing those articles? I thought it was hilarious, because BH always came off as ridiculously arrogant to me.

    1. Was he the one who constantly shoved Delphox into everything? Not that it excuses the Delphox apologists, mind you. Just asking.

    2. She, actually, and yes. It got obnoxious very quickly, and she just loved to troll.

  2. Slowflake, what are your thoughts on the supposed Smask Bros Leak?

    1. Still probably fake anyway, as much as I'd like to see Shulk. I mean...The Duck Hunt Dog? There's joke characters, and then there's...that. Personally, I'm still kinda hoping for Hades...

    2. Keep up with the news, buddy. This appears to be the real thing. Shulk was confirmed in a leaked ESRB gameplay video, and the biggest obstacle to the leak being true was that apparently Monolith was given no credit at the back of the box.

Meh, everyone know Heropon is true star of show anyway.

    3. Still, the Duck Hunt Dog?...
Heropon probably delegated to Assist Trophy...

    4. "Still, Baby Rosalina? Pink Gold Peach?"

Yeah, you know where I'm going with this. With the Villager, the Wii Fit Trainer, and the Chorus Men as DLC, seems like Nintendo really wants ALL of its IPs to be in the main roster somehow.

    5. I know it's technically not made by Nintendo...But how would Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem fit into that? Nintendo DID publish it as well...

    6. The key difference is that Monolith is a subsidiary of Nintendo. Silicon Knights isn't.

    7. Also, nevermind that. Apparently the DLC list was fake, and it's not impossible that all 53 characters will be available out of the box either.

    8. I had heard nothing about the DLC, admittedly. Article I read said nothing about it. Just that 4chan leaked a list of characters, and someone on YouTube leaked gameplay of Shulk, Bowser Jr., and three other videos...

    9. The DLC was confirmed fake by the first leaker who posted it alongside the photos. Unfortunately, it is looking like those four veterans will not be coming back...
Though several sources, including the uploader of the footage, claim this not to be the entire roster.
The yet-to-be-seen characters which have been reported are Dixie Kong, Ridley, Mewtwo, Chorus Kids, Impa, and Mach Rider. The first three seem to be the most consistent ones.
inb4 But Ridley was confirmed to be a stage hazard.

    10. Of course the roster would be organized a bit differently if there were only 48 characters, so it's very likely there are going to be 53 total. Especially with the likes of Dr. Mario and Dark Pit so far away from the rest of their series.

And what definitely shows the four veterans aren't coming back? I mean, sure, Snake's a third-party character, Lucas is a worthless clone and Wolf is kinda close to it, but why would the Ice Climbers get the axe if Nintendo tries so hard to have all its IPs represented?

    11. Okay. I'm kinda confused. Is it just the DLC that's confirmed fake, or is all of this fake? I'm sorry. I'm just kinda easy to confuse at times. And if it's just the DLC, imagine how pissed Nintendo will be. Or have they already issued cease and desists or something?...

    12. The DLC is fake, and as far as we know the rest is real. Shulk, Bowser Jr. and Ganondorf especially, since they were in the ESRB video.

    13. Apparently, Nintendo is making people take the leaked videos down now. Unless it's a troll...The videos at least are real. And it seems Nintendo does some suspiciously specific denial...

    14. "Nintendo" taking those video downs... Not saying it's unlikely, but don't forget anybody can flag videos for copyright infringement. Even the uploaders themselves. The leakers could have easily flagged their own videos to make it look like Nintendo wanted to quickly silence them.

  3. Aye, sorry for being unclear.
Only the DLC was admitted to be complete hoax. The rest is most likely legit.

There's nothing necessarily claiming specifically that those four veterans have been cut. However, Ice Climbers were said to be experiencing technical issues on the 3DS version, so there's that to consider. (And also the fact that they would most likely be a starter, and they're not on the roster. Though it's possible they could be unlockable, I guess.)
My first guess for Lucas and Wolf would be time constraints. It's possible they were simply "lower priority." (Say what you will, Slow, but they're not clones like Lucina. They'd take as much time as most other characters.) But, again, there's not anyone with an ounce of credibility specifically claiming "Lucas and Wolf do not return."
Same with Snake, though him not being included (or even planned) has more possible behind the scenes issues involving other parties thus making his exclusion a bit more understandable.

Those four characters, however, are not on the roster we have now and have not been claimed to be one of the yet-to-be-shown characters, which is why many are doubting their return.

    1. But since a maximum of one of those lists has to be right, there's every reason to doubt the presence of every single character that WAS brought up as well. Truth is, we don't know. Technical difficulties are the one reason why the Ice Climbers may not make it back, because if they're going so far as to have DUCK HUNT represented...

    2. Indeed.
Well, kinda. I won't bore you with details, but, for testing purposes, it is most likely (as in, most definitely) there are different builds. This was the case with Brawl as well. Each build will contain a limited amount of characters so as to test multiple specific situations.
So it's possible that multiple people are reporting from playing different builds, which was the case with Brawl. Pre-Brawl, several different leaks ended up being put together to get the complete roster.
So, anyway, it's possible it could be the same case with this.

But, yes, you still bring up a valid point. Ridley, Dixie, Mewtwo, and Chorus Kids are the most consistent characters mentioned. Assuming the truthfulness of the missing characters, I'd say these ones are the guarantees.

    3. I agree about Wolf, but I'm sorry, Lucas has the exact same special moves as Ness, with them functioning only slightly differently. So for all intent and purpose, he's still a semi-clone just like Toon Link is. At least Wolf had their appearance change as well as their function, so it wasn't as bad.
Though personally I don't care about clones and I'm actually glad Lucina got in. She's a much more interesting character than Chrom. (Although admittedly nowhere near as interesting as Robin.)

    4. Problem is, from what I've heard she's basically Roy all over again.

    5. Specials aren't Lucas' only attacks. That's only four of them.
Every attack needs to animated and balanced. All of Lucas' standard attacks (his A attacks) look and act differently than Ness'. Lucas would take just as much time as most other characters to program and balance.
I'd put Lucas on the same range of "clone" as Luigi, who, if you don't JUST look as his specials, shares a noticeable amount of attacks with Mario. Back-air, up-air, neutral-air, his throws, up-special, and neutral-special. But many of those still function rather differently, despite having similarities.
And PK Freeze is just as different from PK Flash as Wolf's specials are from Fox's. :P

      On a completely unrelated note...
The announcement was NOT Detective Pikachu or whatever that is... I'm happy about that at least.

    6. Roy's and Lucina's swords behave differently.
Lucina's sword has the same power no matter where it hits, but Roy's has the most power at the base.
So he is a sword user that required you to get extremely close for the most effect... Yeah, it was never a good idea. Lucina's looking to be a bit better in concept at the very least than Roy.

    7. Even so, if Marth's tip still deals more damage, we're going to end up with a situation where Lucina is going to be Marth's bitch at high levels of play. Again. She probably WILL be a bit better than Roy was for casuals, mind you. Which is going to be weird because casuals only swore by Roy back in the day.
