Steam sales are so weird.

What is it about them that makes people throw away any semblance of logic? So many people openly admit to having large chunks of their Steam collections that they've never even touched, and we have seasonal sales to thank for that. No, really, what's the point of buying a game, no matter how cheap, even if you're not really interested in it? I'm pretty sure there are many people who would actually spend less if they only bought the games they wanted at regular price than they do right now. I mean come on, the point of sales is to SAVE money. Whatever happened to spending responsibly? Think about it...

  1. I have always felt exactly the same way. Why do some people put games on a "to-do" list? The first thing I do when I buy a game is play it. Why would you ever buy a game and hold on to it? I don't buy a lot of games, (only really long or replayable ones to save money) but I really can't see why you would buy something you don't have interest in. Even if you're kinda interested, wouldn't you rather play something you really enjoy?

    1. I couldn't agree more, I've seen a lot of people by Tomadachi Life for no reason.

    2. I have bought games and then not immediately played them when I have things on my plate and they are on sale... when I intend on playing them soon.

Or when it's a really goddamn good deal for something that could make money, like that SRW OG1 I found at a Gamestop a year or so ago - good god I didn't know you could still find those!

  2. I have to admit, im guilty of this, Last year I spend about 150$ on Steam summer sale, 50$ of them on TF2 keys, and the rest on games, and sure I started playing HL2 right away and I loved SimCity 4 since I got it , but literally only 2 games I have i've played more then 24 hours of, TF2 and HL2, damn

  3. I'm one of those people. I bought three games from the sale just today, and two others yesterday. Of those games, I have no immediate plans to start playing them, and my justification is that I will eventually get through my massive backlog, so I might as well buy them now.

Help me! I'm a victim of consumer psychology exploitation, and the knowledge of that does nothing to stop me from buying everything!

  4. I've never touched a large portion of my steam library, but that doesn't mean I won't play them eventually.

  5. I have 174 Steam games and 60 GOG games. I'm so guilty of this it's not even funny. I actually have started playing them recently, as I've beaten 3 games in the last week, so maybe I'm actually beginning to clear out that backlog. If I actually start working through all of my PC games, I probably won't even need to buy a game at all for another 2 years (especially considering that a fair few of those games are Bethesda games and strategy games).
