Serebii's Pokédex: now with everything about Hoopa and Volcanion!

I don't have any time to dissect these new developments, except for the obvious fact that Hoopa's ability is freaking terrible, and how both of them have so many wasted points in physical attack (seriously, they should've been swapped with speed), so I'll get back to you later on that. The important thing is that they're there.

As for the signature moves, Hyperspace Hole has 80 power, perfect accuracy (as in, like Swift), and hits through Protect and Detect. Do you run that, or do you go with Psychic or Psyshock instead? As for Steam Eruption, it's basically a 110-power, 95-accuracy version of Scald. Not exactly unexpected.

It should be mentioned, however, that by the time they're distributed, we're probably going to have access to move tutors at that point, so let's not panic over disappointing movepools just yet. Aside from dual physical STAB on Volcanion being impossible, I mean. No Waterfall and utter lack of tail nailed that particular coffin.

  1. Apparently the Mega Lati@ses are also up there as well and they STILL have levitate. (no doubt old news but still REALLY!?)

  2. Game Freak is probably giving us the shittiest event legendary Pokemon since, well, ever. I mean, Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin Sky Form(e) (Land form(e) is questionable), Keldeo, Victini, hell, even Meleotta for fuck's sake has got to be better (at least on paper) than this complete and utter shit. Though, Volcanion looks to be the best of them, but that isn't saying much.

    1. Trivia time: before gen 6, there has never been a generation where none of the events were uber in the generation they were introduced in (remember, Mew was uber for the first four gens and Celebi was uber in gen 2).

    2. Adding unnecessary legendary and event pokemon is on my list of "cliches gamefreak should stop doing." We have enough of them.

  3. Ah, but Hoopa is based on black holes, meaning that warping the fabric of time and space is it's thing. In short, it's a trick room user (is there any other pokemon that learns trick room by level up?)

    1. As for volcanion, it's the most weirdo alien thing I've seen in the game. It looks more like a star fox boss than a pokemon. It reminds me of these things from the Marathon Beta: http://marathon.bungie.org/story/_images/betasfjan944.jpg

High speed sounds nice from a game mechanics standpoint, but physiologically, it's anatomy looks so clunky and awkward I don't see it being agile.

    2. Fine then, swap its attack with special defense instead.

As for its appearance, you have to remember, the thing on its back is actually two steam hoses that are attached to each other by the end, but they detach from each other when attacking.

    3. And to answer your question, only two other Pokémon learn Trick Room by level-up: PorygonZ and Diancie.

Either way, if Hoopa is meant to be a Trick Room user (and 70 is still a bit too much to be really effective IMO), at LEAST do it a favor and swap its physical stats around.

    1. Yeah, spinoffs nobody asked for are so bog standard by now, the subject's completely exhausted.

Also, no one tells me what to do. NO ONE.
