Any good strategies for the Battle Institute?

I'm missing the achievements for getting 6000 and 6500 points, and I'd like to go after them, but the problem is, I don't know any decently reliable way of getting that. Does anyone have any ideas? Even 6000 is an extremely high score, so imagine 6500... I've heard it's much easier in doubles, so if you have anything for that, I'm not going to be picky. The only guy I've seen that actually gives out a team during a quick Google search said Garchomp, Noivern, Talonflame and Greninja, but no specifics other than that.

And no, Durant doesn't work here, because the longer the fight drags on, the less points you get.

  1. I think you also have to nail as many weaknesses as you can. I can't offer a strategy, though. It would just be good to have as much type coverage as possible. If you can set up a doubles team in such a way that you can nail most Pokemon with something, that would be great.

  2. If type coverage is a good idea, the Greninja listed above wouldn't give you many problems.

  3. Hey slowflake, can you explain why one of the Seven Sages in A Link Between Worlds is the zora queen when in A Link to the Past they were all humans? Is race mixing in the Zelda timeline confirm'd? Also, one of the sages in Ocarina of time was a kokori kid (or whatever the name is) so she couldn't logically have descendants...

    1. Thanks for spoiling a game I haven't played yet.

    2. Have you ever been so mad... your internet cloned your comment 3 times ?
But seriously VBB... Slowflake always shares with us which game he plays. If there's no trace of it on the blog, you probably should ask before talking about spoiler-ish stuff from a game.

    3. Bah, it's not THAT big a deal. I don't think it's a major plot point.

Either way, the sages in TP were these nondescript people, even though Ganondorf's execution took place only a few years after OoT, so I think it's just that Nintendo doesn't give a damn about continuity. This is the same company that made fish people evolve into bird people after a flood while the rock people remained the same, remember?

    4. Well, on a fanfiction related note, have you read My Inner Life? It's even more awesome than Metroid High School!

  4. I did a double battle challenge earlier first one I've done in there and got a score of over 6000 just make sure you've got lots of type coverage and you'll be good.

  5. I saw a doubles gimmick on showdown that isn't that good against actually people but I could imagine it would work fairly well on the AI.

It involved using Entrainment from a Moxie Pyroar on Garchomp and then using Earthquake to KO Pyroar and hopefully the opposing pokemon. Then the next move was using Prankster Gravity from Sableye to ground all levitating pokemon and flyers and get another boost. The last move was Gale Wings Tailwind from Talonflame to get the speed advantage.

Since you lose points from KOing your own pokemon you could use smack down Archeops instead of Sableye and you could put a balloon on Pyroar (who is back to being useless after passing moxie as normal)

The main problem I see with this strategy is if the opponent leads with bulky waters then Garchomp wouldn't get enough momentum behind his moxie boosts. If you get good matchup's early its could be a viable strategy but without testing it myself I can't call it anything better than a gimmick
