YouTube comment sections, I swear... So Retsupurae did a bit on Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, and suddenly a bunch of cretins are outraged because AVGN did it first. I honestly don't get the logic behind this. Just because someone does something about something prevents anyone else from doing so? Explain that to me, because throughout my entire body I can't gather enough stupid to understand.
I'm curious, I wonder just how many of these outraged "people" (I use the term loosely here) do crappy Happy Wheels/Minecraft/whatever videos specifically BECAUSE more famous people do them.
Come to think of it, this is yet another reason why you guys are so awesome: you NEVER say anything like that. Well, I got one jerkwad telling me I shouldn't do Pokémon Crystal because Chugga did it... except for the part where I did it BEFORE Chugga (but after a lot of other people, it goes without saying). Guess what happened to him. But that's it! Nothing else but the sweet sound of silence.
Imagine if the speedrunning worked like this. The same person would have the world record for all of eternity due to no one wanting a bunch of people hating them for speedrunning that guy's game.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say Slow, you just attract subscribers who have a modicum of intelligence I suppose.
ReplyDeleteWell, that and he's banned anyone who clearly was a dumb-ass. I say why not, it's your hobby and clearly you'd rather a smaller group that gives you less headache than 100k subscribers who swarm the comments with stupid meta-memes like they do in all the (very) popular channels.
ReplyDeleteLPing games is similar to covering songs, I guess. Someone can make the game or write the song, but it's up to other people to utilise it in their own way, eg. Joe Cocker's version of "With a Little Help from my Friends".
