As for my first run usually no. Unless it's Pokemon in which the default names usually suck.(Pretty sure the default in platinum literally "Platinum") Occasionally I do in runs after the first playthrough though.
I don't think it can be Platinum. Can't the names be no more than 7 characters? As for me, I'm the same way as Mod God. I stick with the default names unless it's Pokemon (the exception to Pokemon being if I'm playing my Japanese copy of Black 2, in which case, I use the default names, or if I'm speed running Blue, then I name me and Gary "I").
Oh right forgot about that. Well pretty sure they did that in Pearl at least. Also I kinda neglected to mention I DO actually rename Pokemon but only if I'm planing on using it on my team.
Pokémon isn't an RPG. Most other RPGs I've played I stick to defaults, but you bet I'm spelling Chrono's name right when I play Chrono Trigger.
...Pokémon is an RPG...
Since you're showing FF9 stuff here, I will say. It's the only game in which I renamed my characters for anything else than jokes.
I usually stick to default names unless I'm in a creative mood. May i ask why you are naming freya chase? unless im missing a joke or something, but you do know that freya is a girl right?
That screen right there raised over $5000 at the TSG marathon last month, and Chase was the winning bid. Hence this.
oh that makes more sense.
I usually always nickname my pokemon because its so hard NOT to come up with something cool or clever. One person on Showdown called me out and was like 'I can tell you're like 18+ just from your nicknames'
Well, my Uber Sun team is nicknamed in such a way that that guy would call me an otaku...
Have to be one to know the names
Just for Pokemon, usually, and only for my main team. I always follow a theme. For Black 2, it was the Six God-Generals from Tales of the Abyss. I hate how Pokemon names are in all-caps by default, it's so stupid-looking.
