Xbox, go home.

Much has been said about the Xbox One, but this piece here sums it all up in a five-minute read. Of course it mostly focuses on worst-case scenarios, but judging by what we know already none of it sounds like an overwhelming stretch, and even the best-case scenario makes the PS4 look like the alpha and omega of all electronic devices. I mean, these aren't just words tossed into the air, there's source after source after source.

TLDR version: If you still weren't sure whether you'd buy it or not, PLEASE pass it up. And maybe invest in some Sony stocks if you have money to spare.

Thanks to Mattman324/TSF for the tip.

Edit: Apparently Germany isn't too hot on the whole Kinect thing, and their federal data protection commission is looking into it. We'll see where it goes, and whether or not other countries follow suit.

  1. Not only is it money hungry console, it can potentially be big brother!? I almost feel bad the Call of Duty fanboys who decide to buy this console...

    1. For those...people...is it not going to be on the other consoles as well?...

  2. So, the Wii U for the casual crowd, the PS4 for everyone else, and Microsoft will have to opt out of gaming because of their horrible ideas for the console. So, Sony gets money, Nintendo gets the casual market (slightly less money), and Microsoft will wind up having no one with a functioning brain cell buy their console...Bravo, Microsoft. You have destroyed your place in the gaming market...

    1. The Wii U is not for the casual crowd. It's a niche console with a very particular line-up. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, for example, despite being the second easiest entry (except that the actual easiest is Japan-only) in the entire Monster Hunter series has still made many casual players Rage Quit out of sheer difficulty. I still believe it'll redeem itself eventually with future releases. Particularly that already announced Xenoblades game which will make all the RPG lovers flock to it.

    2. Not sure If Nintendo still gonna be casual, all of the casuals went to Phones and Tablets, I think the Nintendo Vs Sony of this gen will be like Genisis Vs Nintendo of Gen 3, with nintendo not being the freaking "OUR GRAPIX R BETR DAN URS" like MS sort of tried at their confrence, but instead just being like their SNES days, and Sony is gonna be like SEGA was in the Genisis days too, a little cocky (they kinda could possibly have the right to), reciving the sports and "Mature" games and blah blah. SEGA is only a name now and wont ever come back, they were bought by Sammy after the Dreamcast failed. I can see Steambox being the verge of Valve wanting new Console gamers to go to PC, also...one bit of a question...when people *rightfully* talk bad about the Xbone and talk about recomendations, I'm just wondering why did, like that guy, only mention the PS4? Just wondering...

    3. Ok, massive mistake which could cause a misunderstanding here, I meant NOT ONLY for the casual crowd.

    4. In Nintendo's case, it is a good thing I am in that happy balance between casual and hardcore. I love my Mario and Sonic and Mega Man, but I do not mind having an easier game on occasion. Also, Slow would say that this would be nothing like the Nintendo vs. SEGA rivalry. He would say that Sony would be the clear-cut winner in this one...

  3. Fortunately, I doubt any of the worst-case scenarios would actually happen. The consumer backlash over the possibility of any of these things happening is HUGE, and there's no way Microsoft would go through with it.

Interesting how the Microsoft/Sony situation is reversed from last generation, though. I don't know if Microsoft can recover from this, though.

    1. Well unfortunately, MS is one of those companies who gets a PR guy to say "we have no comment" or some answer a CEO wrote while he was eating at McDonalds like "We will annouce an announcement at E3 about this announcement", sadly, MS could go through with this 100% (maybe 80%) and the COD/MS/Halo/NFL/Sports fanboys would still buy it :(

  4. Sounds like the XBONE is gonna be a massive pile of shit. And Mattrick, you're the one displaying "backwards thinking". I should not have to go through all this hoopla with an XBONE when I could still get some use out of an XBOX 360. (I don't have any XBOX systems, by the way.)

  5. Wow... The only way Sony could possibly lose the console generation at this point is if the PS4 had a mandatory peripheral that inserted a fist into the ass of the player at random intervals! I can't even imagine how a developer could do worse than this!

Upon looking through the bullet points again, I keep getting stuck on the "TV TV TV" one. You would be expected to pay extra money to stream live TV on your console, which is already connected to a TV. Paying Microsoft extra money to watch TV on your TV. WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE???

  6. If, on the off chance that Sony DOES mess up the PS4, what will happen to the gaming market? Will they flock back to Nintendo? Or does Slow think that they would rather go to the tablets and mobile devices and potentially crash the gaming market again?...

    1. I don't see why Slow has such little faith in Nintendo. The Nintendo 3DS is DOMINATING the handheld market right now and the Wii U already had a significant boost in popularity due to Microsoft's faceplant, even if it's not as much as the PS4. The Nintendo haters are admittedly very noisy on the internet, but that doesn't mean they are a majority. All of my IRL friends are fan of either Sony or Microsoft, but when I invited them all to try out my Wii U, they all came and all enjoyed it and admitted it was much better than they thought, even if its line-up is lacking right now. Anybody with any concept of what "fun" is, knows the Wii U's potential.

    2. Not saying the Wii U or 3DS suck. I love the Wii U and 3DS. I have been a Nintendo fan ever since my then-future Algebra I teacher let me play his N64. I am just saying what Slow would probably say. I know that the Wii U has potential. It is just that the 3D Mario, the next Smash Bros., the next Mario Kart, and a bunch of other games are some we know nothing about. Granted, it WILL be getting that HD Wind Waker port that I really want to invest in. Mario Bros. U is at least a step in the right direction...

    3. While I don't have a problem personally with the Wii U using dated hardware, denying that it's as costly a move in terms of third party support as sticking to cartridges for the N64 was is foolish. Nintendo's going to have to rely on its own games to carry the Wii U, which may not be enough. I mean, Nintendo's in the red FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. Not even during the Gamecube's darkest hour did that happen. They lost more money from the Wii U than they gained from the 3DS. Let that sink in for a second.

    4. To be perfectly honest, the Wii U outsold both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 during the same period after launch. It's not as bad as you think. I'm confident I'll get better eventually.

  7. As I see it, this generation goes to the PS4, with the Wii U in a close second (eventually they're going to get games, and I think the console will redeem itself when it does), and the Xbox 1 will die miserably.

    YAY I GOT PLUGGED.

  8. What would be sad is if a family with no internet connection buys the Xbox One only to realize you need internet.

Yay for alienating a lot of people, Microsoft. Hope you drop out this console generation.

  9. Well I just saw a post on Kotaku saying that Microsoft may be removing the required internet connection. If so then maybe it means that Microsoft finally has realized what dumb asses they've been the last few months.
