May CocoCoro leaked

Four new Pokémon have been revealed this month, and the one that's worth the most attention is Gogoat the mono-Grass Pokémon. Why? Two reasons. One, it gets Horn Leech, which was previously exclusive to Sawsbuck's line. Second, and more importantly, YOU CAN RIDE IT. Is riding Pokémon a replacement or complement to the bike? Do you need an HM? Does it hint at the end of HMs? Who knows? What I do know is, this is what'll get people talking until next month.

In other news, we have Yayakoma the Normal/Flying Japanese Robin (basic bird or something else entirely?), Yanchamu the Fighting-type panda (thus fulfilling one of the most popular species requests ever), and an Electric/Normal lizard whose name is currently illegible on the pictures we have so far (update: it's Elekiteru). Yes, Electric/Normal. Seems like they're doing an effort to give us more Normal dual-types.

Also, character customization is now a thing... but only hair color and skin shade. Not gonna do too much for those people who make the most generic wishlists ever. Also, is that a map of France? Well it wasn't exactly a well-kept secret, what with this whole Eiffel Tower thing. And finally, there's this picture of the female character riding a Gogoat right next to her artwork, and you know what? I have to look pretty hard to NOT see Roll Caskett there.

So, my opinion? I like what I'm seeing. The lizard could look a bit better, but oh well, can't get a 10 every time, right?

Edit: The lizard knows a new move that appears to be a Giga Drain clone, based on the description. If true, and more Pokémon get it (not unlikely at all), the choice vs. Thunderbolt could prove to be very interesting

Edit 2: The move Yanchamu is said to use appears to be a more support-oriented version of U-Turn, where instead of inflicting damage while switching out, it lowers an unknown stat instead. This gets more and more interesting!

  1. I think riding pokemon will replace bikes entirely. Having both would be entirely redundant unless there would be places where only the bike can go, like the different areas for the Acro and Mach bikes in Hoenn.

I personally like the look of the Electric lizard, but I doubt it would be Electric/Normal. Partly due to the custom of Normal being the primary type, the SOLE exception being one of the fake pokestar studio opponents. If Electric type was the first identified, then that would make Electric the primary type.

    1. And seeing how Serebii has just updated I take back my Electric/Normal comment.

    2. And I can't believe I didn't notice this before about Yanchamu, the fighting type panda. "Insert Kung Fu Panda joke here"

    1. "Game Freak has recently confirmed the return of the Battle Frontier with massive improvements that fans wanted to see. Also, the VS Seeker, Pokeradar, and the Shiny Charm (I do not remember the name of it), some fan favorite features, will be returning to X and Y. See, we really DO listen to the fans!" If Game Freak really said that, then it would cue the girly squeals of the competitive battlers, the Shiny crowd, and myself...

  3. I might be on my own here, but I absolutely hate the bird and lizard Pokemon. I don't like the panda too much either, though I do like Gogoat. As for the PCs... I think they look pretty good. These Pokemon don't look too good to me though.

  4. Fascinating. Also: "Tron, I know we have to get MegaMan off of the Moon, but I would REALLY rather move to this place called Karos to do something called "Pokemon training". Capcom of Japan was more than happy to fund my trip!"

  5. I'm kinda interested in the move Yanchamu uses. It supposedly lowers the target's stats, then Yanchamu switches out. Could this be a way of bringing in a threatening sweeper while either lowering offence to buffer the damage the sweeper takes or lower defence to force the target to switch? If it's the latter, that would make Yanchamu great for luring in Psychic or Ghost types, lowering their defence then switching to something like Tyranitar who can then nail said Psychic or Ghost with Pursuit.
