HOENN CONFIRMED

Take a look at the logo for the next Wi-Fi tournament.

I am really, really happy that X and Y have been announced now. Can you imagine the carnage the Hoenn fanboys would've unleashed otherwised

  1. Speaking of this tournament, I'm trying really hard to get my team ready to be able to participate... even though most sane people will probably use PokeSav/PokeGen and crush me like an amateur... I just want to try to enter at least one Pokemon tournament in my life and if I don't do so now, when I told at least 2 people I'd do it, I will never ever be able to finish anything I started in my life. Even though it's something as insignificant as this.

Also, Mega Man 3 released on 3DS Eshop, should I bother to get it or should I wait for a better one ?

    1. Find a copy of Anniversary Collection on eBay or Amazon or whatever. More bang for your buck.

    2. I can't. The Wii U can't play GameCube games and I gave my old Wii to my little brother as a Christmas gift. The only games I'll absolutely keep anyway for collection purposes are Metroid Prime (The original North American version, apparently containing technical issues I've never encountered. And also more Sequence Breaking opportunities I've already tried to confirm I had indeed that particular version.) and Kirby Air Ride.

    3. And I take it you don't have a PS2, an Xbox, or anything that can play their games?

    4. I used to have a Xbox, but then I sold it and boycotted Microsoft video game consoles when they drove Rare in the dust. There is a PS2 at my house, but just like the Wii is now, it's not mine. Never mind, I'll just stick with Mega Man 2. It wasn't enough to make me fall in love with the series anyway, I should just wait for something else I might want more... like the rumored 3D Classics Remake of Kirby's Dreamland 2.

  2. Once XY are released, I guess the RSE remakes will finally be a possibility.

    1. Only if X and Y completely redo the game mechanics

  3. FENNekin? HoENN? Some things are too perfect to be coincidences.

    1. It's funny, because on my own PGL account, I actually see the Johto starters on the logo. So if anybody had fell for that, it would have been even more pathetic.

  4. Oh, bloody hell. I hope that was a mere coincidence with the Hoenn starters being there. Also, I am not participating in the tournament. On the cartridge, I will only participate in tournaments that are Single or Rotation. I also like it when they allow the banned Legendaries (yes, I saw Politoed and Ninetales in that one. Yes, I saw Kyogre and Groudon. No, Kyogre was not as common as I had anticipated), but that is optional, especially when I finish training Politoed (found myself) and Ninetales (Pokecheck). Any other type? Give me Showdown any day. There, my teams actually have the proper EVs...

    1. Because these tournament totally aren't about having fun, right ? I'd rather challenge the chaotic VGC over the elitist Smogon community any day. Never ever going on Pokemon Showdown if they can't let me play the game in whichever way I goddamn want.

    2. While I admit that some of their policies are crap, I use Showdown because of the convenience of making your teams in a few minutes with the IVs and EVs you want, wheras it takes me days to train a Pokemon to Level 100 without perfect IVs or EV training on the cartridge. To me, following their rules, as well as dealing with the noobs and elitists, is a small price to pay for it. Then again, if you do not want to be bogged down by their rules, then do what I do and play the Uber tier. It merely has the understandable ones (Sleep, Freeze, Species). If you want literally no rules, then I suggest the Hackmons tier (Balanced if you want some order). I have fun in those three tiers because I do not usually have to change around my team when something gets banned...

You complain about rules in Smogon when the cartridge has some bad ones as well? Item Clause has been useless since Gen IV at the absolute latest. Banning Dark Void? Only Smeargle can have it in the cartridge, and it would rather use Spore, for it would rather always hit than hit more than one target. Sky Drop? I doubt many children would know about that glitch. All tournaments being Double Battles? I prefer Singles and Rotation. Also, there are more noobs on the cartridge. I get more satisfaction when it is a close battle...

    3. You do know that these tournament are divided by tiers determined by age, right ? Since I'm eligible for the Masters Tier, I'm sure there'll be plenty of challenge over there for me. The only official rule that bothers me is the Item Clause, while Smogon has plenty more annoying ones. So really, I'm just picking the one that gives me the less frustration. I don't mind Double Battles. Sure they are annoying, but on the other hand, there is much more to think about during these battles, much more strategy involved. Also, many moves which suddenly become much more useful, like Tailwind and Dual Screens while Stat Boosting moves become much more risky. It's a completely different play-style, I like it.

And I'd feel much more pride from participating to an official tournament than some random Smogon match. I just want to play to have fun, not for the sake of being the best. That said, I'm not a pushover competitively either, I just like trying out new unorthodox strategies, which Smogon absolutely hate.

    4. Um, I play Master's Tier as well. There are still several noobs. I know from experience (yes, I knew already. I did not mention it because I knew that there were still plenty of noobs). I mainly play the simulator so I can play with a properly EVed team efficiently (Ubers has few bad rules). I am too lazy to do that stuff for the cartridge. Also, I play to have fun as well. It is just that my definition of fun is winning or coming very close to winning. Metaphorically look me in the eye and tell me that you have fun when someone gets a 6-0 on you, especially if they used something that SHOULD NOT HAVE WORKED! Getting swept by Kyogre is understandable. Getting swept by a FEAR...ruins someone's day (which is why I have an Aron on the cartridge). Besides, I do not always use Smogon's sets. I sometimes deter because it would help get overall better coverage against threats that would wall me otherwise. I hate the Sand Veil and Snow Cloak ban, so I get around it by using those Abilities in Ubers. Really, unless you want to go to Hackmons, and you do not mind using Legendaries, might I recommend Ubers. Some Pokemon really work well there that are not Legendaries. Then again, I am a psychotic little aspie, so I may actually like excuses to use my favorite Pokemon online against people with IQs not in the single digits. My favorite Pokemon happen to be banned ones. Also, you would not believe how annoying it is that I have to have separate items for each Pokemon. For the convenience, I have to grind BP just to get at least ONE of them to share. Granted, I like how in BW2 the online battles give BP, but it is still more trouble. I would rather spend 10-15 minutes creating a team with perfect or high IVs and proper EVs, the best moves, the best items, AND the best Ability at the cost of having to follow several rules that I do not agree with; rather than spending over a week at best grinding some new Pokemon to Level 100, then giving them EVs as best as I can, getting the proper IVs, breeding, and getting the best Ability, some of which I would have to suffer the sheer tedium that is the Dream World just to get (no guarantee that I will get what I want) just to evade those rules while being bogged down by item clause. A point that you would probably make is, "Well, you mentioned Pokecheck. If you really hate all of that stuff, just get all of them from there!" I say, there is no guarantee that they will be legitimate, and I kind of want to get the satisfaction of raising them to Level 100 myself. Granted, it is useful for getting those Japanese events, but still. Pokegen and PokeRNG are WAY too complicated and tedious for me to use...

I understand where you are coming from, Seeker, but I have to say that I disagree with you...

    5. Dude, the levels for the VGC are set at 50... It's piss easy to get to that level quickly if you're anywhere in the post-game...

    6. Slight problem. I do not play VGC, and it is easier to get max EVs and satisfy my OCD if my Pokemon are Level 100. Besides, all of my other points still stand...

  5. 'Tis not that I would not like the remakes. It is just that I really like seeing those hypocrites cry. It is entertaining despite the suffering of the person being flamed. They are hypocrites because they probably hated Gen 3 until they thought that they saw a pattern...
