Bulbagarden suspect-tested... for malware?

If you've tried accessing Bulbagarden's website for the last few hours, you will have noticed that there's a malware alert message coming from Google. Just telling you guys it's a false positive, or something to that effect. Bulbagarden's internal review suggests the alert was caused by a malicious report. Really? What kind of person would have so little of a life that they would file a false malware report on a Pokémon fansite? This is stupid. Either way, you shouldn't be afraid of using their site as you usually do.

Update: Turns out there really is something wrong. Some rogue ad thing or something that's affecting a bunch of sites, including Bulbagarden. As you can tell, I'm not very knowledgeable about that stuff, but what I do know is ADS ARE THE DEVIL.

  1. I hate to say it, Slow, but we both know that there are a lot of trolls on the Internet who can get no joy out of anything but causing suffering to (read: mildly inconvieniencing) others. Perhaps they should meet with Kefka to see how they can take it to the maximum, though I hear that Kefka is kind of dead and in a fictional universe. What next, they will advertise you to other people so more people will watch you so more trolls can come with you immediately blocking all of them?...Wait...At least when I tell people of you, it is because I think that you deserve more people watching your videos than, say, GianCarlo, and I think that a few of them will at least figure out your easy rules...

  2. Remember the false-flagging incident on YouTube? Trolls don't need a reason for anything.

Chugga mentioned something similar today, with seemingly every website being flagged by Chrome. Maybe it's more of a problem with Google?

    Edit:

It seems to have been blocked for a reported 0 cases of malware attacks and absolutely no reason for suspicion. Nice joke, Google.

  3. I don't use bulbagarden much but when I randomly went to check the site that warning message popped up. I had a feeling something wasn't right though. My guess is it's a crazy COD fanboy that reported it because "OMG pokemon's for kids" or something. Whether it's that I mentioned or just a troll these people need to grow up, seriously.

  4. For 0 reasons? On 0 pages?

My, what the hell, Google Chrome? At least it's only Bulbapedia...

    1. Don't think it's just Chrome, Firefox has that message as well. Oddly enough, IE doesn't. Maybe because it's so shitty that it wouldn't give you the time of day on true positives anyway.

    1. Their official response:

"Based on the new information from Google, it appears we're suffering from the same rogue ad issue impacting other sites, including Twitpic."

    2. This is why I'm glad I actually use adblock plus, it saves way more money than others would gain without it.

    1. If they're using the same ad networks as Bulbagarden, no surprise there.

  7. I think Mariokartwii.com also had the same problem.

  8. I can now confirm, if people weren't aware, that the issue has now been fully resolved. It may take a while for all ISP's to register though.
