I could've died today.

So a building blew up today in Sherbrooke, with such force the detonation was heard throughout the entire city. 17 people are injured, and some of them are between life and death and taken by helicopter to Montreal.

The kicker, however, is that I went there for a job interview earlier this year. Back then I was very disappointed when I wasn't selected, but now... well, I could've died. And in the best case scenario, I'd be jobless. Holy crap am I glad my path took me elsewhere now.

Update: Two people died. No surprise there. When you're anywhere near ground zero of 15000 litres of acetone exploding, you're screwed.

  1. Woah... I have a few friends currently studying at the university over there. I really hope they're OK...

    1. The building was in the industrial park. Neither of the universities are close by, so it should be okay.

    3. Well, at least he's safe and sound. Surprised he didn't know though, this is the top story on CBC's website for God's sake.

    4. It wouldn't surprise me if they decided to not pay anything for a TV Cable so they could pay a better internet. Because that's what I'd do. However, even on the internet, I would have found out about it sooner or later.

But don't get me wrong, I'm really glad he's safe. It's just irritating receiving a "What the hell are you talking about ?" kind of answer when you want to know if somebody is alright.

  2. That is kinda disturbing. I can't say I've experienced something like this, well at least not as life threatening. Well, you have something to be thankful for about on thanksgiving, I guess.

    1. Well, too bad our Thanksgiving is in October and is just another day off rather than a major holiday here. But I get what you're saying.

  3. Reminds me of 7/7. I think there was a woman who missed the train (or maybe bus) one morning for work, and had to take the one afterwards. But by chance, that was one of the trains or buses that was bombed, and she lost both of her legs. However, she persevered and became a Paralympian to show she made something good out of it.
