BW2 info - No rest on the 7th day

Moar stuff! Moar! MOAR!!!

- Smogon confirms the Windswept Sky and the Spooky Manor are unlocked at 1500 points. Ducklett and Pawniard were found in these areas, respectively. Hydration would do Swanna wonders if it had, you know, stats, and Pressure is worthless on Bisharp. Stick with Defiant as a huge middle finger to Intimidate users.

- I should've mentioned this several days ago, but it only occured to me now. The fact that you can find N's Klink in Chargestone Cave confirms that the Klink he used to fight you there in BW1 is NOT the same Pokémon he used to fight you in his castle, as a Klinklang.

- Serebii posted a list of all the achievements medals in the game, and while most of them are standard fare, take a look at the ones at the bottom. You're expected to beat the E4 and Iris with mono-type teams of each type, as well as SOLO the E4 and Iris. Now keep in mind, you fight them only once in the high 50s, after that it's in the 72-79 range. This means that when you take into account the fact that mono-type teams fundamentally suck, you're going to need a substantial level advantage to be able to get these medals. As a result, if you're going for these medals, you're going to be forced to level a substantial amount of Pokémon to 100. As for the solo run... all I have to say is, good luck. Remember TSG's 2009 Pokéthon, where a level 100 Arceus was clobbered by Bruno at the very end? Can a level 100 Arceus even do this? These achievements will prove to be the supreme test of both patience and skill. Good luck to anyone who wants to go for it.

- You're going to hate this. Assist Mode is exclusive to White 2, while Challenge Mode is exclusive to Black 2. Of course, there are keys for this that you can trade through Unova Link, like Regice and Registeel as well as Black City and White Forest, but if you've got no one to trade with and you have White 2, you're shit out of luck.

- Moxie Pinsir and Heracross are found in the Hidden Hollows! They're version-exclusive there as well though.

- Two more Pokémon found in the DW by Smogon: Elgyem and Pidove. I hate Rivalry, so I'd keep Super Luck on Unfezant, but Beeheeyem is so slow Analytic is a huge boon (unless you go for Trick Room, it goes without saying). Also, I have no idea why, but Smogon seems pretty sure Litwick is going to be obtainable with more points. That might be the case, but they seem awfully sure of themselves. Do they know something we don't?

  1. Soo, White 2 is piss easy and Black 2 is hard as hell? Did I read that right?

    1. No, these are optional settings. Both games have the regular difficulty, but when you beat the E4 you're given a key depending on the version that gives access to a different difficulty (easy on White 2, hard on Black 2). You can then distribute the key to people either with the opposite version, or who are still in the main game. Note that you don't lose your copy of the key while doing that. This means that if you want access to Challenge Mode and you can't trade keys, Black 2 is your only option. Also note that you can switch at will between whichever difficulty levels you have available.

    2. Ohhhh okay. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll be buying both versions anyway so it won't matter, and I can trade between my 3DS and my DS lite. I have also been watching several Japanese playthroughs of the game on YouTube and I saw some kind of key thing after the player beat the E4. That must have been the key you mentioned. :)

  2. Well, I think that sealed the deal, I'm getting Black 2 and not White 2.

  3. Sweet, I get challenge and my girlfriend does not! Man, that is bittersweet...

  4. All the more reason for me to get both.

  5. God, I hate it when one version gets something that the other version doesn't. But to be honest, I don't think challenge mode makes a very big difference in the end. For example, in challenge mode, the only way they change the gym leaders teams is by giving them AN EXTRA POKEMON AT THE SAME LEVEL. And so, Cheren has an extra Pidove in challenge mode (ooh, scary), Roxie has an extra Grimer (that is so challenging), Burgh has an extra Karrablast (oh my god, how did they even let Burgh have that powerhouse!?), and so on.

I think I'm just in a bad mood.

    1. Their levels are slightly boosted and their movesets altered, so it's not just adding an extra Pokémon to the mix.

  6. Man it looks like they are really trying to make it worthwhile to get both games here, it really isn't just about version exclusives anymore, i really want white 2 because of it's version exclusives but black 2 continues to have superior features in my eyes, such a tough decision

    1. As always, if you know someone who gets one version it's best to stick with just the opposite one. That way both players get all three difficulty levels, Regice AND Registeel, and Black City AND White Forest. In addition to the version-exclusive Pokémon, it goes without saying.

  7. What annoys me is the fact that the only way to be sent a Challenge Mode key is via infrared. It's intended to get people to socialise, sure, but apparently according to Gamefreak socialising doesn't count if it's not with people in your own timezone.

    1. I keep hearing about how the use of handheld devices is vastly different in Japan from what it is here. No doubt much of the stuff that makes it into these games (and the handheld devices) are made with the Japanese in mind.

  8. I don't care, I'll still get White 2 and let my little brother get Black 2. We will just exchange our keys, because he's still at "that age" where he doesn't care about stats and efficient movesets. I think he will actually need the Assist Mode if he wants to complete the game without listening to me. (He's very stubborn and start to act quite defiant, which is very annoying to everybody.)

This IS a very stupid decision though.

    1. How old is your little brother if he doesn't care about efficient move sets and stuff yet? Just wondering.

  9. YOU FUCKERS. WHY? I HAVE to get White 2, and I don't know anyone that'll get Black 2! D':

Oh who am I kidding, I'll end up buying both eventually. xD

  10. Can you trade keys whit regular connection if you are close to eachother or do you need wifi? If you need wifi i don,t think my little brother will be happy becuase he wants White 2. This is the first time the versions can be at different difficulties which i don,t like. And a super fang tutor again...... Raticate, Bibarel, Pachirisu...I don,t care for Watchog. One of the few reasons you wanted to use these was becuase of Super fang. If you give it to one million pokemon ( it feels like that anyway ) you are just dumb to these pokemon. Really, really dumb. Just like the decision to make Luvdisc worthless forever this feels like Gamefreak don,t just like these pokemon. In fact no rodents are good. Why does Gamefreak hate rodents so much?
