BW2 info - I eight you

You know the rules, and so do I... so let's get down to business.

- Serebii posted all the teams for the World Fanservice Tournament, and one interesting thing they did is that they gave each trainer a lot of Pokémon from their own region. I actually like that a lot, because they weren't so rigid about it that they didn't go out of their way to have all six team members from the home region. They just have quite a few of them.

- Blaine uses Rotom-H, so that's yet another trainer that uses an alternate form. It never happened until now, and now we get two in a row. Oddly enough, Volkner uses the regular form. Way to gimp yourself, man. (Edit: Serebii says it's the regular form... with Air Slash. Derp. I guess it's Rotom-S.)

- Motor Drive Emolga found in the Hidden Hollows. It's a huge improvement over Static... I guess? This isn't going to drive anyone to use the thing, though.

- INTERNATIONAL RELEASE DATES! As expected, it's coming up faster than usual - October 7 in NA and October 12 in Europe.

- Shizui's English name is Marlon. Either it's because I just woke up as of this writing or because I'm a total dolt, but I don't get the pun. Cue flood of comments. (Edit: It comes from "marlin". Oops.)

- For all three people who cared about Pokéwood, it's now called Pokéstar Studios. I don't know the details about it yet, but it better be better than the musicals.

- Achroma becomes Corless in the English versions, and Hugh (the rival) keeps his (not very) Japanese name.

- Karrablast, Shelmet and Trubbish found in the Hidden Hollows! This means Escavalier now gets Overcoat. You know, despite already resisting sandstorm. As for Garbodor, it gets Aftermath. It's not very blessed in the ability department, so you might want to use it. Unburden Accelgor... well, Accelgor never had any speed issues, but if you're not going to use it in the rain you might as well forego speed EVs and nature entirely and go for a gem set.

- Smogon found White Smoke Heatmor and Truant Durant in the Rugged Mountain, to no one's joy. Yes, I know Truant Durant can have a few fun applications against the AI as well as complete n00bs, but it's never going to work against anyone with a lick of knowledge about the game.

- In addition to Iris, Chili also abuses the Sheer Force + Life Orb bug in the Fanservice Tournament. Oh well, at least they're aware of it. Maybe a fix next gen? On second thought, I'm not so sure I want one, all Sheer Force users would be crippled if it went away.

  1. Marlon = Marlin, a type of fish. I assume that's what it is...

  2. .... Off the top of my head, Marlon is Nemo's dad's name. I'm assuming because their pun is drawn from the same source?

    lol "flood" of comments.

    1. Yeah, that was my first thought too, and then I remembered, "oh yeah, marlins are a type of fish >_>" (when did this show up, I took a nap because I wasn't feeling good and...)

  3. Actually, I think that the fact that Volkner is shown to have a normal form Rotom is a mistake. It knows Air Slash, which can only be used by Rotom-S

  4. The first thing that came to mind for me when I saw Marlon is that Mar is Spanish (and Portuguese also, I think) for Sea.

  5. I would have thought the fact that they didn't change the Sheer Force/Life Orb behaviour in BW2 and even took advantage of it on an ingame NPC suggests that it's not actually a bug at all.

    1. I don't think it's supposed to work this way, though. It's meant to get rid of added effects on MOVES, not items, and more importantly, if Sheer Force was supposed to get rid of Life Orb recoil, it'd do it all the time, not just when the move is already affected by Sheer Force.
