How does this even work?

No, seriously, I want you to explain this to me. "Amiibos learn from you." SUUUUUURE.

  1. It's Nintendo saying that "Luigi wins by doing nothing" is actually the ultimate strategy.

Yeah, I dunno, especially since I've stayed away from Amiibos like they're the plague. But I saw that video for the first time last night, and I pretty much had the same reaction.

  2. I was trying to make a comment for this as soon I as saw the Sheik FP fight with amazing skill against the Megaman FP. I couldn't even THINK of a comment because that video just made me speechless. How the fuck is this even possible.....did that amiibo watch a lot of competitive Smash videos while he was doing absolutely nothing?!

  3. The best explanation that nobody could refute so far is that Amiibos have a pre-set AI they can rely on if they reach Lvl 50 without learning anything from the player. Because it HAS been proven several times that you can tweak their AI.
Although most of the time, they'd probably end up being worse because of it...

    1. Well, yeah. That placeholder AI looks like it could hold its own against a pro. It's really silly that the placeholder is basically the best it can possibly be.

    2. So really, all that guy did was find a way to train any Amiibo to be the best it can possibly be. When you give human playstyle characteristics to an AI, you might feel some gratification into seeing it's taking after you, but you also give it a weakness. Pretty funny, actually.

  4. amiibo absolutely do not learn from you.

I NEVER use shields or dodges and yet all my level 50 amiibo shield and dodge perfectly like I had been training them for months in the Himalayas to perfect the art of defense.

Oh and my Villager amiibo, I did a 99 live match where I did nothing but K.O. him with trees and at level 50 now and he won't even plant a sapling, like he is some kind of tree hugger pacifist.

    1. Though what I don't understand is why don't the amiibo do anything on that custom stage?

To me that was the truely weird part.

    2. With the Villager thing, I thought the way Amiibos worked was that if you attacked the Amiibo, it would learn to use the shield and/or dodge. So, if I'm remembering that correctly, then maybe if you use an attack over and over, the Amiibo will start not using that attack?

And that particular stage somehow happens to cause Amiibo to just glitch out and not do anything. Guess it takes advantage of some bugs in programming or something. *shrugs*

    3. Someone managed to manipulate a Pikachu Amiibo's AI to spam the crap out of Thunder. So it's definitely possible to teach them things.
