l2p FF6, scrub.

Clearly, GameFAQs and quality control go together as well as... this.

Yeah, so Edgar's Tools absolutely rip through the early game thanks to their prohibitive damage, I'll give you that much. Problem is, this idiot clearly thought the opera scene was actually the ending. Because if Edgar remained his big damage dealer throughout the entire game, then how badly did he fuck up the rest of the cast? Newsflash: Edgar starts out strong, but his damage output stagnates fairly quickly due to the best Tools becoming available a quarter of the way into the game, so you either have to stick with outdated Tools, or go with a Dragoon set-up that doesn't deal all that much more damage and takes both relic slots. Fact: Edgar is mid- to low-tier at best. Magic is king in this game. Physical attackers that can't use the Valiant Knife might as well not even exist (Setzer is a special case, but let's not get into that).

Seriously, dude. There are two characters in the game that have an attack that gives you an instant win if there's only one target (such as most bosses), and takes one out of the equation for teammates to focus on the rest if there are many. How do you get any more broken than that? Then, as I said, straight-up magic nukes everything. Period. Terra's special is outright broken when used in moderation. And here you're gonna tell me that there's no better thing to do than Auto Crossbow and Drill for Kefka's Tower? How long does a single random battle take if THAT's your best damage dealer?

I'm really saddened that this "Edgar and Sabin are unstoppable monsters" bullshit still exists today, 21 years after release. All because they have the best start in the entire cast. At least Smash players eventually figured out Roy's ph1r3 didn't do shit (except it totally does in SSB4).

  1. I hate the Edgar and Sabin hype as well. What's worse is these people tend to shun Gau and Gogo even though they have access to the most broken move in an RPG. I've seen people who claim Phantom Rush is broken because it doesn't use any MP.

  2. Part of the problem, Slow, is that that's a Top 10 list from 2010. See, Gamefaqs isn't getting new Top 10 lists anymore because no one wants to right them, so they're recycling from years past, except most of the older ones are shit. And infact...

...you're not the first person to notice how bullshit that is. Look at Post #5.

    1. Yeah, I sorta forgot about Mog being the defensive juggernaut that he is too (though he's just as vulnerable to instant death and piercing attacks as the others).

Fact is, Edgar's a decent enough character in a game chock full of gamebreakers. He just landed in the wrong game, if nothing else.

  3. Edgar and Sabin both wish this game was a film. Meaning they would be top tier and Terra and Celes would be sinking at the bottom.

I see what you mean by Locke being the only great physical attacker by the end. We all know how miserable Cyan is after the Narshe Battle Sequence, Edgar's damage falls behind by the end, and Shadow should never use the Fight command.

    1. To be fair, the mechanics behind Setzer's Fixed Dice means you can dump all your stat boosts into magic, making him proficient in both sides of the spectrum. Especially with the Master's Scroll, since it doesn't halve the Fixed Dice's damage. Too bad there's only one of these besides the Soul Shrine, and Locke should always take precedence, so Setzer's only really at home in Kefka's Tower and the Dragon's Den as long as you keep him and Locke separate.
