The 200cc AI is as wacky as advertised.

So I was on Sunshine Airport, and at one point I was second behind Baby Daisy. Well, at some point during the long anti-gravity turn with all the spinners in the middle, I saw her going right across the track, left to right, before falling to her doom. Where'd she come from? No idea. How did she end up all the way there? No idea either, but she did. Now I'd heard stories about how they didn't bother adjusting the AI (which kinda makes sense because humans are pretty inert at the whole 200cc schtick as well), but I found this way funnier than it had any right to be.

And when I say they didn't adjust the AI, I mean it. Go on any track where you can keep the gas on the floor the whole time (like Water Park, Toad's Turnpike or N64 Rainbow Road). If you don't get bombarded with items, just watch the gap you'll open up. It's crazy. It's like you're on 200cc, but they're still stuck at 150.

  1. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the case, that they didn't bother updating the AI for the new speed. It's pretty telling when they perform as badly as someone trying 200cc for the first time, when normally the AI would have minimal screw-ups. I remember there was one hairpin turn (I forget on which track) where I forgot to brake and hit the opposite wall. Cue 2nd, 3rd and 4th place all slamming directly into me or the wall next to me, and then a Bob-omb one was carrying blew us all up. It was pretty great.

    1. I've also noticed, at least for me that they just seem to messup and fall all the time in water sections
