Hyrule Warriors' last two characters unveiled

Tingle and Young Link. Well, at least I got the former right, but I thought the Skull Kid would be right there with him. Oh well, it's not THAT much of a surprise that he's not there, since the Great Fairy already takes care of dropping the moon on stuff, and you know nothing else could've been the Skull Kid's signature.

As an added bonus, this means NO MORE DARKNESS WEAPONS. The sheer amount of them was getting stupid, especially since all of them bar Zant range from solid to brutal.

Now, speaking of brutal, the remaining question is, just how brutal will the new adventure map be? Considering all the fuss over the TP map's extreme difficulty, I can't imagine it being even harder.

  1. Plot twist: Tingle is darkness.

I hate this, by the way. Out of all the options, they went with some of the worst. Skull Kid was guaranteed, said everybody sane. I was more sure of that than Twili Midna. Now all we get is freaking Tingle and a Young Link that looks spectacularly boring compared to what he could have been.

As for the map, take a close look at the brief image we saw during the trailer. It has a time mechanic attached to it. The current popular theory is that you will get to play a certain number of missions or a certain amount of time before the map resets and you have to start from the beginning. Obviously if that's the case, you'll keep all your rewards, and I'm thinking item cards too. I'm also guessing that there will be items that give you more time, and that at a certain point in the map (perhaps when you clear all the dungeon spaces), you'll be able to get rid of the time mechanic so that you can fully complete the map. I'll be fine with it as long as the problems with the TP map won't be returning. I'm also hoping for some kind of added defense potion that we can use on the TP map, or perhaps a nerf to the difficulty.

    1. Oh, of course. How silly of me to think a callback to Majora's Mask could potentially be better than Majora's Mask itself.

    2. Haha, I forgot you don't have the best relationship with that game. I personally love it, and I love that we're getting MM3D in less than a month. As far as I'm concerned, though, HW started out strong and fumbled the ball for the last half of the content. We do have one more very vague pack to look forward to, though.

    3. Well at least the Skull Kid is going to be a costume for an unspecified character, no idea who it could be though. Maybe Young Link himself? So at least he's getting acknowledged. Hopefully it won't look as disturbing as Zelda's Ilia costume. Seriously, it was basically Ilia with Zelda's face, and it looked ridiculous.

    4. To be fair I've heard people request very questionable choices most notably the Deku Princess you know the one that had to be carried in a bottle to even get anywhere. Then again it would be funny to have her as a costume for Link solely for his great fairy "weapon" but that's way too big of a stretch.

    5. The costume is almost certainly for Lana, as you can see a hint of a ponytail in the silhouette. With that body build and posture, I could only really see it for her or Ghirahim, but I'm 95% sure it's Lana (not that my guesses mean much, see above). The other two costumes are obviously for Sheik and Impa.

I never noticed that about the Ilia costume, to be honest, and I used it for quite a while until I got the SS pack (I adore SS Zelda).

  2. Now, if only we could go on VS mode and beat Tingle into the ground...

    2. I think Rosalina's fans and Mariotehplumber are as bad as eachother. I'm not saying anymore on this.

On the topic of Zelda, which version of Majora's Mask did you play Slowflake? I'm starting to feel that maybe the issues I had with the game was due to the virtual console emulation.

    3. The original N64 one. The VC version is completely identical, as far as I can tell.

    4. So the problem isn't the classic/GCN controller then. Yeah, Majora's Mask and me just don't get along.

  4. Different subject, but something weird has happened in the pokemon news.

They've announced that japanese entrants to the Battle of Hoenn Wifi tournament will be granted a hidden ability Tyrunt. However, they listed Tyrunt's hidden ability as Rock Head. While Tyrantrum has Rock Head for its ability, Tyrunt doesn't. It has Sturdy as its hidden ability. So is this a mistake or has a quiet retcon happened?

    1. Serebii mentioned as much and said they were awaiting clarification. Best to just wait a day and see.

    2. My money is on "they just fucked up". Besides, as far as I'm aware, even if you give a Pokémon an ability it's not supposed to have, upon evolution it'll be fixed, depending on which ability slot the Pokémon has and/or whether it has the DW flag.
