Bad Serebii suggestion of the week: Poison Tail Druddigon

I'm not sure whether I want this to be a recurring feature of this blog or not, but Serebii's PotW for today features yet another display of total embarrassment. On one of the sets, Poison Tail is recommended whenever playing in a Kalos-native metagame as a replacement for Gunk Shot. FUCKING POISON TAIL. Are you serious? If you're playing Kalos-native and need an answer to Fairies, USE IRON TAIL YOU FOOL. Sure, it's somewhat inaccurate, but it's TWICE AS POWERFUL. Jesus. What's going to happen next week, Porygon-Z as PotW with Hyper Beam being recommended?

  1. Coming up next week: Physical Alakazam with Psycho cut and the elemental punches to "surprise people"

    1. Or Hustle Aerial Ace Togekiss. Shame it doesn't get STAB on Extremespeed anymore, else I could totally see it happening.

    2. Haydunn played a Hustle Togekiss before G6 hit, iirc. It was actually pretty darn strong. But since it's so unreliable, it can just screw up at the worst possible moment and also can't sweep a whole team when cleanup time comes. I don't think G6 changed that much.

  2. I agree. Only reason anyone would use Gunk Shot is more power. With Iron Tail, 25 power is sacrificed, but in exchange, you can hit more stuff Super Effectively (Druddigon can already handle Grass types with Fire moves), you get more of it, and your idiocy for keeping a Druddigon in against a Fairy is decreased by 1%...

    1. I was talking about Poison Tail vs. Iron Tail. If Gunk Shot is allowed, by all means... I mean, Gunk Shot was even buffed this gen. It's more powerful AND more accurate than Iron Tail. Outrage and Sucker Punch, even unboosted, can adequately take care of most things that aren't Fairy or Steel.

    2. In that case...Better hope Move Tutors return in ORAS (they probably will, but still)...

  3. Silly Serebii. Then again Serebii has a history of metagame stupidity, doesn't it?

  4. Hyper Beam Aurorus and Flamethrower/Fire Spin/Inferno/Flame Burst Charcoal Charizard coming soon!
And I wish I wasn't making this up. Hyper Beam Aurorus is apparently a thing on Showdown and some walkthroughs show non-mega Charizard with four fire moves.

    1. Good thing Hyper Beam doesn't work like in Gen 1 with the other advancements as of Gen 6. Then, PorygonZ would probably be Uber, or at least high OU...

    2. Hyper Beam Sylveon is also a thing, apparently, and the big reason why it shows up for Aurorus in the stats but not Sylveon is that no player worth their salt would ever use Aurorus anyway.

Charizard's stats might also be scary if it was still a scrub-only thing. On the other hand, we've now gone full circle since some legitimately usable Mega Charizard X sets have NO Fire move.

    3. Why would anyone use a Flamethrower/Fire Spin/Inferno/Flame Burst Charcoal Charizard? Everyone knows with a set like that you run a Charizardite X!
