You can't spell "Fight" without "Fi".

Yep, so there's a 100% probability that everyone's not-favorite hand-holder was able to fight all along, but chose not to for some odd reason. Sound familiar to anyone? Really, all that's missing is the Rapunzel hair. I mean, gee, at least Midna did something every now and then.

With that said, let the fanwanking begin. By tomorrow the internet will be flooded with theories on why Fi did nothing but run her mouth in Skyward Sword - and the only one that'd really make sense is Hyrule Warriors being no different than Super Smash Bros. in terms of canonical presence.

  1. Took me a while to realize what the hell you were talking about... It's pretty painful to see people acting like Hyrule Warriors is canon. Considering how they managed to make AGITHA a playable WARRIOR, you'd think everybody would have figured out the characters picked from the Zelda universe were chosen for the heck of it. Probably based on popularity.
I really can't wait... I know it's just Dynasty Warriors, but hey, I only played one Samurai Warriors game and I kinda enjoyed it. I didn't play anywhere near enough to be sick of that kind of gameplay yet. It's funny to see the intense hatred from people who never even played one treating the fans of the series with such disrespect. The Zelda fanbase is crumbling.

    1. I tried Googling the phone number I have to call to get a nitpicking permit, and came up empty. One or two instances of very mild disrespect for source material on their own does not a shitty spin-off make, and whoever can't recognize that should take a long walk off a short pier.

    2. Oh, and as far as popularity goes, I have yet to meet a legitimate Agitha fan. I don't know the size of your typical Dynasty/Samurai Warriors roster, but it's got to be big enough to give the devs headaches, since the same few characters are the focus of the story most of the time (in the Zelda series, I mean), and I'm not sure villains would even be playable

    3. *is crumbling even faster.
Sorry, forgot to write the end of the sentence. :P

The popularity thing was just a wild guess. I saw quite a few fans of Agitha actually... who all crawled out when she was announced for the game... Kinda similar to how we never hear of Waluigi fans unless he's not playable in Smash Bros.
But you're probably right. If popularity was a factor, Groose would have been announced to be in the game and Girahim would already have been confirmed to be playable.

    4. He already has been confirmed as an enemy

    5. Hence why I specified "confirmed to be playable". They might be enemies, but there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to play as them. After all, they could very well turn on the Black Sorceress towards the end. Having the top evil of each era of the Zelda Universe meet each other sounds like a bad idea after all. I want to expect them to stay in character and refuse to take sh*t from her unless they have a REALLY good reason to.

    6. You've clearly have never played a Warriors game.

They love to make the villians playable, so much so that I'd be surprised if they WEREN'T playable.

    7. Ganondorf in particular has a history of having his own agenda while pretending to work for another big bad in non-canon games.

Okay, so that was just one game, but still.

    8. I actually played Samurai Warriors 3 and Samurai Warriors Chronicles, thank you very much. It's just that there aren't CLEAR villains in those games... Nobunaga isn't technically evil, just some sort of deranged visionnaire. And considering his goals is pretty much the same as every other warlords, well he doesn't stand out as having true evil intentions.
The reason I say they aren't confirmed to be playable is that so far they showed a trailer for every single character confirmed except the bad guys. There's no reason to doubt they will, but I'm not known for my optimism.
Also, no reason to act like a condescending prick, that's the one thing I can't stand.

  2. I'd like a reference from some other Zelda games, seems leaning a lot more toward the newer ones like Midna and Agatha, now Fi with only Impa being from an older game. Skull Kid would be a cool addition I think, Groose (despite being newer) would be good as well, I would of liked a Zora and Goron character too but thats proberley too Majora's Mask-y I guess (sorry, Majora's Mask is my favorite for story, least favorite for the stupid time thing -_-)

    1. I guess Darmani would be an interesting character... I mean, he's sorta kinda playable in a weird way. But yeah, I'd be shocked to not see Zoras and Gorons represented somehow. Maybe we might see Medli as well? She had this odd, creepy cult following back when Wind Waker was new, the kind you see now with Rosalina in the Mario universe.

    2. It died out after a while, but yeah, freaking Medli was a thing.

  3. Wait, so is Fi playable in Hyrule Warriors then? I saw no news about this, which is odd because I usually know almost right away.

Anyway, I always really liked Fi as a character idea, even if her personality turned out to be a little... Abrasive.

    1. Glad to see I'm not the only one who think this way. Personally, I never found her nearly as annoying as people made her out to be. But to be fair, I was using rechargeable batteries which for some reason the Wiimote couldn't detect the exact condition of, so I never EVER got the "Low Batteries" message while I played.

    2. I think the bone people have with her is that she's constantly holding your hand, telling you what to do when in any other Zelda game you'd have to figure it out yourself. I suppose at least she's not holding out on any information she already knows, but I'm a big fan of gameplay/story segregation, so... Otherwise, as a character she's quite okay. She's no Midna, mind you, but if you'll allow me to step out of Zelda for a second, she's no Airy either.

  4. At this point, I'm half wondering if there's going to be any male characters besides Link.
I don't like playing as female characters, it makes me feel creepy.
