Or at least so the more savvy followers of the game would have you believe. It's pretty old news by now, but there's no harm in showing it off - most of the stats for the characters and vehicles have been figured out, so I've organized them in some neat tables.
tl;dr version: those who despise Pink Gold Peach will feel vindicated, as she (and Metal Mario as collateral) is totally worthless! Also, inward drifting is back, however there's a slight delay to it, theoretically making it slightly less useful than in MKWii, but the most important thing is that it's no longer slapped onto the fastest bikes. Instead, the few that do have it provide boosts to acceleration and handling instead.

I'm still probably going to use Rosalina. Small stat differences from the Super Heavy characters matter little in comparison to using a character I actually like. As for vehicles, all of the inward drifting bikes have the same stats, so I'll use the one that looks the coolest (sounds like Jet Bike or Comet). Of course, you want one of the +Speed gliders, so Bowser Kite for me most likely. As for tires... How significant is the -1.00 drop in grip for the slick tires? I'll probably go with those if that's not a huge loss of control, but I may go for some less speed-oriented tires if I don't like the handling.
ReplyDeleteBowser for me, probably...
DeleteWe still don't absolutely know for sure what grip does, but it appears to be related to the old off-road stat.
DeleteWhat have they done to bowser? Heavy karts are supposed to have LOW speed and HIGH acceleration! How do they not understand how their own game is supposed to work? All the clone characters should, in theory, have some difference between them, but everyone in each weight class is all identical! I can't believe I have to program your game for you, nintendo. You really messed up.
ReplyDeleteWTF are you talking about? In Mario Kart it's always been heavy karts = low acceleration + high top speed (64 excepting, they had low for both).
DeleteC'mon man, that bait isn't high quality enough for you to chew on it.
DeleteForgive me Slowflake, it's Monday and I slept like crap yesterday, you know how it is as a fellow working man. My troll-o-meter doesn't kick in until well into the evening. Besides, in the world today it's hard to tell trolls from serious people lacking in mental faculties (I refer one to Fox News for evidence).
DeleteBy the way, regarding the grip stat, I read that it may refer not just to off-road but also conditions like rain/snow and the such, on the road itself and ability to maintain control. Oh and Pokemon Art Academy confirmed for NA release in Fall! Not that anyone cares but hey Fall release for PAA, Fall release for ORAS, which means Sinnoh confirmed!!!1! Or something....*shrugs* (some idiot on reddit claimed to see Sinnoh outlined in the clouds in that PoS trailer from this weekend, am certain some believe it)
Well I have a suspicion off-road may also have affected control on certain road surfaces in MKWii too, for some reason the Flame Runner never worked for me on Sherbet Land, even though it never was a problem for me on the N64.
DeleteYou're suspicions prove right.
DeleteYour top speed on Sherbet Land in MKW does indeed depend on your off-road stat. That's why the world record on that track is with Toadette on the Magicruiser, IE the combination with the highest off road stat in the game.
Top speed too, huh? I never really noticed, but I always thought cornering was freaking horrible on that specific track.
DeleteNext Pokemon spin-off no one cares about has been revealed. It's free this time, though you'll probably need PlayCoins. At least Four Swords being free was a pleasant surprise since I would have paid money for it on the 3DS (I like the 2D Zelda games)...
ReplyDeleteAnd it's a StreetPass-based game, so I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it stayed Japan-only.
