Well there goes Diancie.

Any chance this thing had of being good seems to have been thrown out the window, with the reveal that Diancie has Clear Body. It's not THAT much of a surprise, since Carbink has it too, but honestly, are you really interested in a Carbink that has better attack stats and Diamond Storm? I mean, look at Carbink's offensive movepool for crying out loud! Unless there are a lot of additions, I can't see it succeed, really.

  1. Once again, Diancie was the one I had least most interest in.

  2. stop being so pessimistic about diancie's movepool.

moves manaphy learns but phione doesn't: tail glow, heart swap, calm mind, hyper beam, light screen, psychic, shadow ball, reflect, energy ball, giga impact, flash, skill swap.

diancie has a lot of potential to get a bunch of extra moves

and carbink gets sturdy as a hidden ability which is good for a wall like diancie, of course that may never get released on diancie lol.

    1. Carbink already learns most of the good support moves you can expect a Rock/Fairy to learn though, and offensively you can't expect much out of something with 100 attack, 100 special attack and 50 speed. The worst part is that given the screenshots that we've seen, Diamond Storm is likely to be the only addition to the level-up movepool, and as a result it won't even get Play Rough to go along with it. So if you want to use more than one attack move on it, you'll have to go special (mixed is a definite no-no with these stats) and forget about Diamond Storm entirely.

    2. That is assuming that Diancie and Carbink will have near to identical movepools, which I really doubt will be the case. Who's to say Diancie doesn't have a slew of other moves that Carbink would only wish to get, like the aforementioned Play Rough. There is still a lot we don't know yet as not much has been leaked out. In fact we only know about 6 moves Diancie will have, there oculd be countless others it could get.

For example, for all we know right now, it could get things like Recover, which would be great on it. Also, with its increased offences, a bulky calm mind setup could be useful, especially if it does get Recover. I still think it's too soon to write off Diancie. I say don't write it off until we get it and do the proper calculations and find out all of its moves.

    3. Problem is, the three non-Diamond Storm moves it had in that one screenshot were the last three Carbink learns by level-up, so it really looks grim on the level-up front.

    4. Those, Hyper Beam and Explosion are the only moves that we know for sure Diancie has though and it's all based on the assumption that Carbink and Diancie are connected, which could very well be not true despite the numerous similarities. I remember times when gen 4 was being shown off and people thought Sharpedo would evolve into Garchomp due to their similarities, but that never happened.

  3. So will you be able to put eviolite on carbink and phione for even better walling?

    1. By the way, I really wish Barbaracle was a rock/fighting type.

  4. bbbbbut it can learn Explosion and Hyper Beam! [Seriously why the fuck would you highlight hyper beam as a learnable move CoroCoro/Trollfreak? All fully-evolved can learn it and the move fucking sucks anyway].

  5. Well, the official site has confirmed a link between Carbink and Diancie, but I still think it's too soon to rule out Diancie being useless. It all depends on moves it gets that Carbink doesn't, which is almost unknown right now.

Humorously though, the official site showed off Shiny Diancie, be it accidental or not.
