Mega Lati@s stats leaked by Serebii

I don't know how long they've been up, but in case anyone's not aware yet (I sure wasn't), here's the rundown: They suck. They're nothing compared to the Soul Dew, and quite possibly Life Orb and Choiced variants as well.

Mega Latias: +20 attack, +30 defense, +30 special attack, +20 special defense
Mega Latios: +40 attack, +20 defense, +30 special attack, +10 special defense

And they both keep Levitate too. Talk about underwhelming.

  1. I wouldn't rule out Mega Latios quite yet. It gets a good attack boost, it has access to Dragon Dance and it does have a useable physical movepool with things like Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Shadow Claw, Steel Wing and Waterfall. It could make a fairly decent Dragon Dancer and while Mega Charizard X may have more power, Mega Latios may be more durable and have an easier time switching in. It could even go for a mixed Dragon Dancer as well.

As for Latias, I will agree. It really doesn't gain very much to make it a viable option through it's mega evolution.

  2. Even as a Dragon Dancer, that Special Defense with the Soul Dew is hard to part with, and judging by these Mega Evolutions, Lati@s will return at some point during Generation 6 meaning the Soul Dew might return as well. This makes Mega Lati@s...completely pointless.

  3. I've heard no word on if Soul Dex exists in Gen VI. I'm assuming it doesn't until we hear otherwise.

    1. It probably does. The only instances where an item just stopped existing were the Berserk Gene and the Johto Pokéballs.

  4. The only theoretical use it might have is if Soul Dew were to be banned/nonexistent but the Megas aren't. Even so, such wasted potential

  5. Dude, Physical Latios and Mixed variants (odd though they may be) are going to LOVE that attack boost. Latias is a miss, but Latios gains something very usable.

    1. Not terribly fond of the idea of physical Mega Latios, for the simple reason that many other dragons have that kind of attack power while retaining their access to a held item.

  6. Okay...so does this mean they'll be in a future event...or Pokemon Z?...

    1. More than likely Pokemon Z. Like how they did with Mega Blaziken in XY.

    2. Someone suggested that they might be in the last gen 6 movie, possibly along with a gen 7 Pokémon, since there are only three event Pokémon this gen and we're getting Diancie already.

    3. I think we might get the lati@sinite as an event item before Z comes out. Or get latias and latios in an event first (latias for x, latios for y) and they'll give you the lati@sinite in Z if you trade them over.
