Some poor German kid got robbed so hard

I lied, turns out every shiny has some sort of value. I put up the aforementioned shiny male Combee on the GTS for funsies, asking for a Xerneas in return but not expecting to get one... AND I GOT ONE.  It goes without saying that the nature is crap (Lonely), but hey, I can try using a mixed one in-game, at least.

The thing I want to know is if the guy (or girl, whatever) freaked out so hard at the sight of a shiny Combee that he/she didn't notice it was male and just forked over the Xerneas, and it was afterwards that he/she saw that it was male, and as a result fell for the robbery of the century.

  1. Youch. At least mixed Xerneas has really good coverage moves. Be glad it wasn't Adamant! Purely-physical Xerneas doesn't get any boosting moves or even a STAB option!

And at least you don't have to worry about IVs, since mixed works fine no matter which stats get the guaranteed 31s.

  2. Well, not all people collect shinies to use them in battle. A shiny Pokemon has far more value than any legendary. Statistically, you could get through the entire story of X up to Xereas and catch it far faster than you could find a shiny by random chance. I caught a shiny Chingling back in generation 4, and I still consider it to be one of my most valuable catches, even though few people even remember what Chingling is.

  3. Lonely? That just happened to be the nature of the Xerneas I traded...What I got had a crap Nature as well, though I at least went to the trouble of asking for a Legendary, albeit one no one but me would use competitively. Even there, it would not be for competitions or anything like that...

  4. Don't under estimate the power of shinies. There's an underlying reason they are called shinies. They are shiny things. Dazzling and hypnotic. A while ago I asked a guy what he wanted for his tornadus (I only have white and black 2), and he said "anything shiny." He was at least smart enough to not settle for my extra shiny event giratina (he wanted a shiny that wasn't an event), but I forked over my shiny male budew (nature was crap) and he was satisfied. I still consider it to be more valuable than that landorus, but only in a way that a lifetime supply of gold is more valuable than a lifetime supply of food during a zombie apocalypse.

    5. My post game team is Scizor, Garchomp, Xerneas, Mewtwo, Kangaskhan and either Venusaur or Gyarados. Which one would you say I should use?

    6. Ah never mind, I will use Absol.

    7. What's even the purpose of a post game team, besides multiplayer? The Looker sidequest isn't exactly a challenge.

    8. Making the process of filling the Pokédex easier, of course.

  6. I did the same thing with an extra shiny Gyarados I got while fishing only for a Yveltal. But at least Gyarados had a mega evolution going for it...

    1. Yeah, but it's a Gyarados. I managed to pawn off a MALE COMBEE for a Xerneas. Not nearly as appealing as Gyarados.

    2. True, but imagine that guy's face once bank comes out...

  7. Either that or the guy really really really likes Combee...

  8. One time I went on the Gts on my Pearl , and I asked a guy for his Dexoys. I gave him my super ultra shitty Metagross. Back then, I was a big noob and thought the moveset;flash cannon, meteor mash, earthquake and hyper beam was a great moveset. Plus the Metagross was trained by rare candies. Yeah back then I had a AR. Plus the Metagross's nature was awful. Turns out his Dexoys nature was bold. It's now sitting in my box in my Pokemon Black as a Dexoys attack. Trlolololololol.

  9. This inspired me to do the same with a shiny Illumise (neutral nature), I got a Xerneas, and it's TIMID. I nearly had to pick myself up off the floor.

  10. I can just see some poor German kid raising his arms in frustration saying "You are tearing me apart, Combee!" when he realizes it can't evolve.

On a related note, I totally read this completely true and totally not-at-all made up news article today about some kid who maxed out his RAGE gauge and killed a bunch of people in Germany.
    -Berlin, Germany
The city of Berlin was rocked by violence and tragedy today as a majority of its police force was wiped out in a murder-spree-suicide. Witnesses at near the scene of the crime said they heard the police officers telling the suspect, Johnny Löffel, "Stand down, it's over!" to which he replied, "It's not over! Everybody betray me, I'm fed AHP wit dis worruld!" Afterwards, witnesses heard a horrifying "Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep" howl before seeing the police officers explode. The suspect was later found dead in his apartment with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Detectives investigating the scene have said the only evidence they have gathered from the scene is a Nintendo 3DS that was still on, with the Pokemon X game being played. The only Pokemon in Johnny's party was a level 21 shiny male Combee named "Lisa." German investigators have said they have a lead on what could have triggered the breakdown. It involves a rambling, gaming dude known only as Slowflake, and a trade that the two allegedly made that involved Slowflake trading a shiny male Combee for a Xerneas. Slowflake released this statement about the incident. "I did not trade him, it's not true, it's bullshit, I did not trade him, I did naaht. Oh hai, internet!"
Slowflake could not be reached for comment due to a previous engagement at a football toss in an alley.

Well, that's definitely the most productive pre-bedtime 5 minutes I've ever sent.
