Gen 6 simulator stats, because why not

Can be found here. The Pokébank data is what you really want to see, since it's far more popular than the regular OU tier, and it's what our metagame will look like in two months anyway. Of course, reading into this is a bad idea, because it's just a week worth of data, and we're still in this phase where we want to try all our new toys. Not surprised by Aegislash being the most popular, of all the new Pokémon it's easily the one that shows the most potential, partly because there aren't many new Pokémon to start with, partly because they're nowhere near as brutal as the gen 5 Pokémon.

Also, note that many Pokémon were unbanned with the start of this new generation. They are: Blaziken, Deoxys-RS/LG/E, Excadrill, Genesect, Landorus-I, Manaphy, Thundurus-I and Tornadus-T. No complaints there, I would've done the exact same thing. This leaves Mewtwo, Darkrai, Shaymin-S, Arceus, Deoxys-FR, and the cover legendaries except for Kyurem-N, Kyurem-B and Zygarde. In addition, Sand Veil, Snow Cloak and Swift Swim are once again fully usable.

  1. Actually Snow Cloak and Sand Veil WERE unbanned. The only ability banned is Moody.

    1. A quick Ctrl+F in the detailed data shows absolutely nothing. Every single Garchomp has Rough Skin, for example.

    2. For what it's worth, those Stats were for dates before the tier leaders decided (you'll notice Shaymin-Sky is still on them)

    3. Okay, so I take it the Swift Swim embargo is gone as well?

    4. Sweet. I wonder if rain will be able to do something from here on out. Thanks!

  2. I don't think I saw this on any comments here, but it appears that Defog now clears entry hazards, etc. on both sides of the field. I guess while the move is a tad limited to mostly flying types (though a few non-flyers can learn it who are decent enough to warrant some use, if at least in lower tiers) I think this is an acceptable change to nerf SR.

    1. I've heard that Defog Giratina is becoming pretty popular in ubers (simulators anyway). It makes sense--Defog was pretty useless back when it only got rid of things on the opponent's side of the field, but now it's a total field-cleaner that can't be blocked, unlike Rapid Spin. Since Taunt-users are a lot less common than ghost-type spin-blockers, it's a lot harder now for an opponent to stop you from wiping out all their hazards and screens.

On another note, I really wish Aromatisse got Defog. Its hidden ability makes it immune to Taunt, so it would be the perfect hazard-remover and might actually get some use competitively. Maybe in Pokemon Z/X2+Y2/whatever the sequel is, it will get it from a move tutor or something...

    2. Still not a fan of losing the hazards you set up, to be fair. Especially if your hazard setters are dead and you really want to get rid of what's on your side of the field.

  3. Yeah, I was definitely wrong about what was still banned. That's what I get for not playing since gen 4.

Plus side, the things that were unbanned don't seem to be broken anymore, at least from my first impression. Weather just isn't as much of a factor with only lasting 5 turns instead of the whole match.

What really needs to be looked at are some of the mega evolutions (obviously).

    1. The fact that all this has been unbanned now that permanent weather got nerfed and is so far not popular just shows how broken permanent weather was. Permanent Weather should have been banned in Gen V, not the abusers.

    2. Yeah, right now most of the weather seems to come from otherwise weatherless teams that happen to pack a Tyranitar (and maybe an Excadrill because why not).
