The hunt for MienFUUUUUU

Raging hard right now. After clearing route 7, I had the choice between two cave entrances, chose the bottom one, then accidentally ended up on route 8 (I assume I was supposed to take the other entrance), where my next team member awaited. Unfortunately, it seems to be by far and away the rarest denizen of the area. I have been looking for, no joke, an HOUR for a Mienfoo, and only found one with Inner Focus. Nope, it's Regenerator or nothing. Of course I caught everything else in the area (all I'm missing at this point is a Zangoose and a Taillow), but still. Getting really frustrated, so much I started running away from everything to make the process go quicker (that and backtracking to Camphrier Town every time I need to replenish my Venusaur's PP is incredibly tedious at this point).

Current team: L37 Blaziken, L37 Venusaur, and a Mienfoo that's still in the wild... somewhere.

Edit: Not long after writing that last part, I found two Mienfoos back-to-back, the first one having Inner Focus, and the second Regenerator. With a Jolly nature. I'll take that one, thank you very much. Thanks to the progress I made in the Battle Château, I became an Earl, which caused some evolved level 25 Pokémon to appear there... excellent experience for Mienfoo, which I put in the front to get it the full experience. Half just isn't going to cut it when you learn your first STAB move at level 29. So now I can properly move on to the cave past route 7, which I just rushed through to get a Mienfoo. Blaziken is closing in on level 40... it's probably STILL not going to obey me even when I get the next badge. Feels like a dog chasing its tail right now.

Current team: L39 Blaziken, L40 Venusaur, L25 Mienfoo

Edit 2: The Battle Château is crazy good for getting some levels under your belt. As well as some money, I now have 130k for crying out loud. At least Mienfoo learned Force Palm, it'll make the going a lot easier. I caught everything I could in the Connecting Cave, so now all that's left for me to find in the Central Kalos Dex are Spritzee and Swirlix (as well as the starters I didn't pick, but oh well, that'll get taken care of later). I honestly couldn't find a Spritzee for the life of me (which means it's common as hell, judging by how some of you guys have an easy time finding stuff I can't). I made it to Ambrette Town, which is a nice place to call it a day.

I forgot to mention, the output from the berry farm is absolutely crazy, which it better be considering how high maintenance it is. I mean, on top of watering the plants, you have to keep weeds, Spewpas and assorted bugs out of the way. Dang.

Current team: L41 Blaziken, L41 Venusaur, L30 Mienfoo

Edit 3: A bit of trivia for those interested: the demo that was showcased at many events before launch featured a heavily modified version of route 4.

  1. By the time you get to the 4th gym, I bet that Blaziken and Venusaur will be in the 50s

  3. This may be too soon to ask...
If I'm doing Gen 6 Wifi battles is it everything with a BST of 660 is Uber for now? Everything else goes?
I think they did that for Gen 5 till the Tier listing comes out?

  4. OK two things, first you already have a fighting type one that's lv 37, which is is on par with the levels of the SIXTH GYM LEADER. Secondly, YOU HAVE POKEMON ALMOST LEVEL 40, YOU CAN BEAT THE GAME WITH JUST THOSE TWO AT THIS POINT YOU SILLEH SILLEH MAN! D:

    2. You missed the point entirely.

  5. Actually, the top one is just some trainer battles, with a path that is currently blocked by Strength boulders.

Plus, at Route 8, I've found a few Mienfoos. You must be having some bad luck.

  6. Sheesh, your luck must just be atrocious. Seems like the Let's Player's curse follows you even offline. I've been following your progress for a couple days and it seems the pokemon you're trying hardest to find I end up finding on accident/very quickly. I'd throw them your way if I could, since they're not going to be part of my team.

  7. Maybe my guess of Yveltal having a Catch Rate of 60 was not too far from the truth. In red health and asleep, Yveltal seems like a guaranteed catch in an Ultra (I am capturing it until I get a good Nature). If you can find a Dusk...Just do not use the Master Ball on it, okay? By the way, the process of getting a good-natured Yveltal is tedious, as to be expected by the thing on the cover...

    1. Defeat it first, that way you can save in front of it and you don't have to deal with that long scene before you fight it.

Of course, you will still have to deal with the long ass scene after capturing it though.

    2. I can deal with it being specially oriented, so I kept the 7th attempt. Also, I would have done so if I could not just capture it in one Ball...

    3. I caught Xerneas with a Great Ball and it's health was in the green. Oh and it was sleeping too but that is still crazy impressive. Also the great ball was the second ball I threw. After that I decided to call it a night because I could not believe my eyes after that catch.

  8. Maybe you can try experimenting with pokemon you never used before to keep your team from getting overleveled.

    1. If he is like me, then they will become overleveled anyway...
