Day 1: Holy legitimate leaks Batman!

Okay, I think this is for real this time, since the pictures are actually high-quality. Nothing outstandingly interesting thus far, except for the fact that Work Up's lifespan as a TM was as pitiful as its competitive use. It's being replaced by Infestation, a move that's clearly Bug-type since you get it from Viola. Here's to hoping it'll be an improvement over Struggle Bug...

Naturally, this post will be edited should anything worthwhile come up. Stay tuned.

Edit: Yep, it's real, Serebii and Bulbagarden both acknowledged it as such, but can't say anything because of legal issues back when BW1 came out.

Edit 2: Screenshot of Quilladin's stats! We can't make much out of it because of IVs, EVs and natures, but it appears to have great defense, good HP and attack, low special stats, and it's pretty slow.

Edit 3: Wow, the early Pokédex is filled to the brim with horrible Pokémon. Bibarel, Linoone, whatever Bunnelby evolves into, Vivilion, Butterfree, Beedrill, the elemental monkeys, Pikachu and Raichu, the Burmy line, and then Masquerain, with Seaking coming not long after. Can't wait for Smogon's in-game tier list, since they're such suckers for Pokémon that come early

Edit 4: According to Bulbagarden, quite a few copies are in circulation in Canada. We're going to know everything before the game's even out at this rate, because you just know someone's not going to be as careful avoiding to ruffle feathers as the guy from the link above.

Edit 5: Seems like you have a crazy level advantage in horde battles. Level 20+ Quilladin up against five level 5 Scraggys? Oh noes, they're going to do one damage each for each turn they live

Edit 6: One of my main gripes with gen 5 is now gone: berries are now found normally within the game again, without the need for the Dream World or Thief!

Edit 7: Man, we're getting a blast from the past with these roadblocks. First a blackout, then a Snorlax. Are the dancing dudes making a return too?

  1. This is probably the BIGGEST leak ever. Come on, at least one copy of the game was sold 10-11 days EARLY illegally. Someone's head is going to roll for this.

    1. The weird thing is, he's not posting anything that's likely to be covered by the embargo. Surely he's come across a few Pokémon we don't know about.

    2. I wonder... could this be one of the craziest publicity stunts ever?

    3. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, so...

    4. From sounds of it a few stores sold them before the release date (which is against their agreement with Nintendo so they can be held liable for damages) but they seem to be relatively isolated incidents. Either way, Nintendo has all the major sites pretty much NDAing the games until release. Serebii isn't repeating the Gen V issue and Bulbapedia locked out all editing because of the leaks. Forums are free to discuss it but good luck sifting the real info for the turd frauds. Will likely avoid them because first playthrough in Y I want semi-blind (X playthrough will be with more full knowledge). Not fussed about mediocre early-game pokemon, I will likely play around with my team and not worry that it takes me longer to beat since it's my first time in this gen.

    5. Funny as I say that, I checked the link to see what's new and he I guess got forced to take the stuff down.

  2. What makes Vivilion terrible?

Also, nothing will ever top the dancing guys roadblock in BW2.

    1. It's very clearly a level 10 bug, complete with sub-400 BST.

    2. I'm hoping Vivillion will be more akin to Scolopede than the level 10 bugs

    3. Nope, you're out of luck. If I'm not mistaken Viola has one, plus it's right before the Butterfree and Beedrill lines in the Kalos Dex.

  3. Are you saying I have to stick with only Fennekin and Venusaur for the first third of the game?! I can get the game at launch because my planned team is made up of mostly old Pokemon, Fennekin, and Mega Absol...

    1. Well you better start praying Talonflame turns out decent, because otherwise you're in trouble for the opening segment.

I have to say, I really pity the spoiler-free crowd, because the catastrophe scenario of starter + Unfezant + Zebstrika from BW1 could very well repeat itself for those who want to assemble their team fast.

    2. Well, if it sucks, then Venusaur will be even more blatantly overpowered on my team until my OCD kicks in. Hopefully, Eevee and a ThunderStone are available in the first third...Besides, it is currently not another Fire/Fighting, so that is a good sign...
Again, good thing most of my Pokemon on the team are old ones. The unknown variables are due to Mega Absol (sounds very interesting to make Pokemon forced to eat Status, Sucker Punch, or something else. Mach Punch will still be a thing competitively, but still...

  4. You've gotta be fucking kidding me, a second Mega-Charizard (X), with a color change and a type change to Fire-Dragon at that? You thought the Zardtards were bad with you so far...hahahaha *sigh*. Well so long as it's not first brought out with SR I guess it's as usable as any other fire type now (maybe not quite OU but still, though we've still to see how the mega-evolutions fair period).

  5. I quite like the look of Mega Charizard (X), actually. Looks pretty cool.

    1. I agree, and I was never a Charizard fan even in Gen 1. Still, I find it funny how there was all this speculation that with Mega-Evolutions, Charizard might be usable...now there's a 2nd M-E that is completely different (more physical oriented, and obviously flying --> dragon). It probably doesn't change much battle-wise (loses 4x rock weakness but loses ground immunity, gains 3 weaknesses (dragon, fairy, ground) and loses a fighting resistance (does anyone really care that bug now does 1/2 instead of 1/4 damage) and only gains an electric resistance and loses water weakness. Then again, offensively it gets a good ability and dragon is a more useful STAB-type than redundant-flying. [Guess in X I might choose Charmander and Bulbasaur in Y (would have been reversed otherwise)]. Either way, I can't wait to hear Slowflake rage on this. Genwunner zardtards still flog his LPs whining that he chose Bulbasaur (even his original videos!)

  6. I almost died at the Smogon in game tier list joke. They put stuff like Mienfoo in Mid tier and Farfetch'd in High, da fuck?
