When someone on YouTube asks to like/comment/subscribe, does ANYONE ever do so just because they asked, as opposed to doing so of your own free will anyway?
Sometimes I like because I usually forget. I've never subbed because someone told me. I also generally only comment on videos when I have a question for the uploader.
I WILL end up commenting anyway. Liking and subscribing depends on the quality. These days, I usually only ask those who watch to tell me what I can do better (besides leave YouTube). I guess I am some sort of critic because some people PM me and ask me to watch some guys' LPs. I do not...
If someone asks me to "like" a video and I actually liked the video but haven't already "liked" it I will. If I haven't enjoyed it that much, it is just annoying, but not when it reminds me to do so when I would have forgotten to.
I feel like it's becoming more of an ironic thing to say now. The Game Grumps, for example, say "LIKE COMMENT SUBSCRIBE" after they say or do something particularly stupid. I haven't heard someone say it seriously in quite a while, because everyone knows how ineffectual and desperate it sounds.
There are a few people I'm subscribed to that I like just about everything they put out, but short of a particular video being amazing, I will never go out of my way to click the like button. However, if afterwards they ask for it, generally I will. I never sub or comment if asked though.
I only do it if I legitimately like the video, which for the people who always say that I rarely like their video to that extent. The thing I hate about it is that most people that do that put an annotation saying "Give a like for X happening in video" is at the very beginning of the video. It's like saying "Don't bother watching the whole video just leave a like because that's all I care about."
Depends on the video/person. If they ask for a like, and I enjoyed the video, then I usually go for it. Asking for subs is taboo and I'll probably never watch again, and why comment if I have nothing to say?
Even a Youtuber I thought he just didn't give a shit about his success on Youtube has fallen to the dark side of begging for Likes and Favorites... He didn't ask for subs yet, but I fear it won't be long before he does so as well.
Another I found recently do so as well, but in such a ridiculous manner it just has to be a parody of some sorts, especially since his endslates are completely unscripted and drags on forever uselessly since he rambles on so much. (I find it hilarious for some reasons.)

ReplyDeleteI only sub if the work in question is good/entertaining.

ReplyDeleteNo. It's like a movie character turning to the camera and asking me to buy popcorn.
ReplyDeleteI have a moral objection to doing so if I'm asked to seriously. My brain just says "Oh, fuck off, you sad bastard."
