You say Sylveon is either Normal or Flying

229 of you chipped in with your guess, and the most popular choice was Normal, with 101 votes. However, Flying, with 79, proved to be almost as popular - and most of those votes came in after the English name was revealed. Not too much of a surprise there, it's really the most convincing argument why it could be Flying. Dragon (15), Fighting (13) and Bug (12) were popular outside picks. The reasoning behind Dragon has been cited to death, Bug has those ginormous, creepy-looking eyes going for it, and Fighting... I don't know. The others are non-possibilities: Steel had four votes, Ghost two, and Ground, Rock and Poison one apiece.

  1. I'm one of the few who voted flying before the English name. I just had a gut feeling from the start that it was flying but I couldn't put my finger on it. (and I know I sound like it's completely confirmed I know it's still possibly not flying)

  2. I also voted Flying beforehand, if only because the Nuzlocke forum had come up with the answer beforehand.

  3. I am really starting to wonder if the Rock/Fighting/Flying type triangle will ever be really put to use.... I kinda hope Sylveon is at least part Flying, but the overwhelming evidence just isn't there.

Normal is really boring, but has seemed like primarily the "woodland creature" type to me because it mostly consists of mammals, birds, and most importantly fairies. Basically all the rest seem to have an undetermined type of some sort, probably the biggest reason why Eevee is one. Sylveon just seems to fit the standard Normal-type mold from the information we have. I could see it maybe being Flying after all if I squint hard enough, but everything else is a reeeally big stretch. I'm a bit worried that Fighting got more votes than Bug. At least Bug has the forest environment going for it, but Fighting? What about this thing even remotely suggests Fighting?

    1. Maybe they think that move in the trailer is Fail Blast? I could see that being the case, actually.

  4. I'm another that voted Flying back when we called it Ninfia and chose to completely ignore the whole 'Sylph' thing as evidence for anything anyway, as it's not consistent across the languages despite being a word that isn't exclusive to any, it's not a reliable indicator. I figure they changed it in English because Nymph isn't exactly the kind of word they want kids Googling and then most languages went with that.
Ignoring that, I chose Flying because of it's weight, being the lightest Eeveelution despite sharing the size crown with several others, obviously being light is something that comes naturally to things that fly.

  5. I'm still going with my Normal/Flying combo, though I'm often in the minority on these types of speculation.

  6. I hope it's not Normal. One, we technically already have a Normal Eeveelution (Eevee sort of counts), and two, it would forever doom it into the deep realms of the UU and NU tiers, unless it had some massive HP and Defenses going for it (but then it would have to fight with Clefable, Blissey, etc.). So, please, please, PLEASE be Flying.

    1. No, Eevee doesn't count. That basic movepool and these pitiful stats are NOT serviceable.

    2. I know, but it would still irk me a bit for there to be a Normal type Eeveelution.

  7. I hope it isn't Normal/Flying. We know the mad Eevee fans won't rest until there's one for every type, but imagine if they started doing DOUBLE type evolutions as well.

  8. People have been saying that the chart on the official website:

Hints that Sylveon will be flying because the Eveelutions are on a straight line from the type that is super affective against it.

    1. Wasn't aware Grass was super-effective against Dark, and so on and so forth. Wanna know what that really is? They're just sorted by Pokédex number. It's that simple.

    2. >.>
If you look across from Umbreon there's a little Espeon, if you look across from Flareon there's a Glaceon, etc.
It's not constant in the order but of the two Eveelutions that are across from each other one has a type advantage over the other.
      That's all.

    3. Still reading WAAAAAAY too much into it. Why would they go out of their way to create an obscure pattern like that just to try and hint at something? It's clearly sorted by Dex number, nothing more.

  9. Still Normal despite the nymph thing. It still looks like Delcatty to me. I honestly care not because I like Jolteon and Jolteon only of the Eeveelutions (sooort of Espeon with its Dream World ability). As long as they give a ThunderStone in the main story, I probably will not even use the new Eeveelution(s). I may not use Eevee at all if they do not offer a ThunderStone. What I am looking forward to is Legendaries and otherwise bada** looking Pokemon (Jirachi is bada** adorable, Victini is adorable, but slightly less bada**, Azelf is bada** adorable as well...yeah, many of the bada** adorables are Psychics to me...Psychic is my favorite type anyway)...
