Ninfia's English name: Sylveon

Quite frankly, I'm not sure what to make of it. I seem to recognize the term "sylph" from it, which refers to an air spirit. If that's the case, whoever guessed Flying (or Normal/Flying, depends) would be right. The word "nymph", which could be found in Ninfia, is also present in the French name.

Regardless, it seems that they're serious with these worldwide announcements, right down to non-starters, non-legendaries.

Now watch. Since we usually get Eeveelutions in pairs, we're going to get a Ground-type (as an opposite of Flying) called Gnomeon, named after "gnome", the earth elemental. Of course this is just wild speculation and isn't even worth calling a rumor, but I'm writing this down just in case I turn out to be right.

  1. OK, I give in, it won't be Dragon. I'm guessing it's Flying instead.

  2. I still say it's Normal. The nerd frenzy is of course convinced that they're introducing a new Fairy type.

    1. Despite the fact that we've had a fairy Pokémon since gen 1, and an egg group is also named that. Fucking idiots.

  3. The type is still up in the air to me. Firstly, Trump Card, which was shown being used, can be learned by Eevee anyway, so ALL eeveelutions get it so that move doesn't warrant anything. Secondly, this isn't the only Eeveelution to learn Swift. Espeon can also learn it and it was a tutor move that Eevee could learn in gen 3 and 4, meaning all Eeveelutions can learn it, so that means little. The important moves are that first move, which looks like a fire type move, and the third move, which I don't have a clue what it is.

For those reasons, my stannce doesn't change. I still think it will be at least part fire. Maybe Fire/Dragon.

    1. I'm not sold. The projectile itself doesn't look all that firey to me. Besides, showing off a move that matches the specialty type of the Eeveelution would ruin the entire point of keeping the type hidden. Of course if it's a Normal type then they have to stick with what Eevee already knows anyway. I still say that if it's indeed a Fire move, this guy's Normal with a Clefable-style movepool. I mean, how could a Pokémon based on sylphs and nymphs and stuff be FIRE/DRAGON? That's just about the least logical type for such a theme.

    2. Oh, and I've seen some people suggest that it may be Fail Blast. Just saying.

    3. It's not just the projectile that suggests a fire type move. It's also the color that the screen tints when the move is being used. It's an orangey color, which is typically associated with fire if you look at the animations for the powerful fire type moves like Fire Blast.

Sylph is a wind spirit, but that was not a flying type move by any stretch. Admittedly, not using any flying type moves would fit with keeping the type secret, but still. If that move isn't a fire type move, then what is it? I can't see it being Fail Blast. I think the charging time would have been longer if it was. If it is based off a nymph, it would be more of a bug type than a flying or normal type, and I seriously doubt that was a bug move. I also think it would look more like it could float if it was a flying type, but I can't see it in its design. And there is some kind of mystical feel to it's design from my view of it, which is why I partly think of it being a dragon.

Now watch us all have egg on our faces as the pushers saying we're going to get a new type turn out to be right...

    4. I've also seen Giga Impact being suggested, though I doubt it, for obvious reasons.

Of course, it would be sort of sad if people who make stuff up just to sound interesting were actually right.

  4. I think flying, although it doesn't look like it can fly.

    1. Maybe these bow things? I dunno. Maybe it just floats in the air. Who knows.

  5. First word that came to mind was "sylvan."

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sylvan?s=t
    1. of, pertaining to, or inhabiting the woods.
    2. consisting of or abounding in woods or trees; wooded; woody: a shady, sylvan glade.
    3. made of trees, branches, boughs, etc.
    4. a person dwelling in a woodland region.
    5. a mythical deity or spirit of the woods.

Which is nonsensical, as we already have Leafeon for Grass. Make of this what you will.

    1. Maybe a Bug-type, now that I think of it. Has the eyes for it.

  6. I personally think there will be just the one Eeveelution this gen, because how can they hype one Eeveelution in a pair so much but not the other one?

    1. Maybe by revealing the other one later on? I don't know.
