Another poll: Guess Ninfia's type!

Self-explanatory. Of course, the spin-off polls are still going in the meantime, this is just running alongside them.

My best guess would be Normal, as it matches the color scheme of several Normal-types. Heck, it reminds me a bit of Delcatty in terms of appearance.

  1. The main thing that annoys me about this is that after the ballyhoo about a simultaneous worldwide release they've gone back to not telling us English-speakers a damn thing about the game so we're still poring over bad photographs of CoroCoro magazine like it's 2003.

It's not a simultaneous worldwide release - it's a completely normal release which just happens to be at the same time everywhere rather than delayed outside of Japan.

    1. Come now, CoroCoro technically isn't out, these are leaks. As far as it's officially concerned, even Japan hasn't 'got' this yet.
I'll guess the English site will update with Ninfia shortly after CoroCoro is out proper.

No option for a 'new' type Slowflake? Considering they're making quite a buzz about it's type in the scan yet not telling us and this is going to be one of Gen VI's poster children, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume it.

    2. Just like they withheld Reshiram's and Zekrom's types in a similar fashion, and it turned out to be existing types. We've been there plenty of times before. They won't add a new type unless it's needed.

So... a simultaneous worldwide release, then?

    4. Don't worry, I know what you originally meant. It also pisses me off. But hopefully, Nintendo will share the information in one way or another soon. Because it's true that it's unfair how Japan still get to know more than us even after that boasting about the Worldwide Release so much. But most diehard fans closely follow those Japanese updates anyway, and the people who don't, will probably never know about those leaks in the first place, so that's not that big of a deal.

    5. Sorry, but if that was sarcasm it wasn't exactly obvious. Neither Nintendo nor Game Freak promised us anything except that the game would be RELEASED at the same time worldwide. At no point did they mention information distribution.

    6. I never said they ever did. I just think that if they want to brag about being fair towards the Pokemon fanbase worldwide, then they should share all the information that Japan might get. If you can't understand such a simple fact without looking down on people, then maybe you should take some time to think about the meaning of the word "respect".

    8. And so they did. They made another mini gameplay footage trailer only for the sake of revealing *Sylveon* internationally. It's on the official Pokemon Youtube Channel. Thank you Nintendo and GameFreak for not disappointing me by not discriminating non-japanese audiences.

    9. Not entirely sure where the bile has arisen from. Disrespect was never the intent and I don't think that comes across in my posts. I simply disagree with the notion that they would be obligated to drip-feed information worldwide when that was never their promise.
It's really cool that they have ended up doing so, though.

    10. Don't pay any attention to it. It's just my high moral values of justice kicking in. You have no idea how many times people told me : "The world isn't and was never fair for everybody. Deal with it."

I still can't let them go though. I feel like they define who I am, even if it means that people will always have trouble to put up with my "self-righteous" personality.

  2. Hey guys it's the lightest eeveelution at 23.5 kilograms and sorta light in color, proof that there will be a Light type! (jk, of course)

But seriously... it's a soft pink color and it doesn't seem to have an elemental theme going on, so that narrows it down a bit. It doesn't look dragon-like at all (to the likely dismay of those people who think Game Freak cared about there being a pattern). It would seem pretty silly to have Ninfia be a type taken by another eeveelution, so this suggests the Normal type. It would be interesting if turns out to be Flying or Fighting, but they probably would have made that more obvious either way.

  3. I'm going to guess flying because it reminds me of a kite for some reason and normal seems a little odd for an eeveelution even if eevee is normal to begin with, but I've been wrong before. Also watch all the fans think it's actually light type.

  4. I'm guessing normal as well. Flying is my second guess, but normal seems much more likely.

Here's my thoughts, though: Is Ninfia just the Japanese name, or could it be the English name as well? If it turns out to have an English connection, the chance of it being normal type shoots up in my eyes. If it doesn't follow the normal naming conventions for Eeveelutions, then I think it's likely to be a direct successor to Eevee, maybe even as a normal level-up evolution.

That doesn't seem likely, though. I bet Ninfia is just the Japanese name, and the Japanese naming conventions for Eeveelutions don't follow any specific pattern.

    1. To be fair, there are conventions that are individual to each generation, though Ninfia follows gen 4's for some reason.

  5. My first guess isn't in the list. My first guess is that Ninfia is going to be at least part Fire. Before you laugh at me, I have evidence to support that theory.

Look at the page with Ninfia's official artwork from Corocoro. You'll need a large size image like this one: http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/0/0e/Ninfia.png or just zoom in. Now take note of the screenshot above the official artwork. It looks very much like Ninfia is about to use a Fire type move. Take note of the flames in the screenshot and Ninfia's pose.

    1. Or it could be a Normal type with the typical massive movepool that's the type's signature.

If somehow you're right and this is a dual Fire-type, this is going to piss off a LOT of people.

    2. I see your point, but in my experience, normally when they show a pokemon using a move for the first time, the move is of at least one of the types that pokemon will be from my experience. There have been some exceptions, like Froakie (( I think the move it used in the trailer looked more like Ice Beam than Water gun )), but I take your point. My personal guess is a dual type Fire/Dragon pokemon.

  6. Also, guess what?

Ninfia has already been Rule 34'd. There's a LOT of pictures circulating already.

    1. Gee, what a surprise. It's not even funny anymore. Especially not since what happened with Shade.

  7. I have absolutely no idea what it could be, but I'm going to hope and pray for a normal-type because the other alternatives are a "poor" eeveelution (in terms of type representation) or something completely unthinkable, such as a new type (unlikely but not totally out of the realm of possibilities) or a dual-typed 'mon (again, not completely out of the question). Either way, the alternatives are not exactly desirable outcomes.
My mind is also drawn back to a couple months ago where, iirc, someone said that happiness would play a bigger role this generation. It is hard to deny that Ninfia doesn't scream happy.

    1. Yeah, well they're going to have a tough time making Ninfia's evolution method mutually exclusive from Espeon's and Umbreon's if it has anything to do with happiness. Heck, it's mighty unlikely that Masuda's statement had anything to do with evolutions, considering this is one of the very rare things happiness did to begin with.

    2. Yeah, it was just something to consider. Considering that Eevee is one of the franchise's signature Pokemon (in a manner of speaking), I doubt they would recycle evolution ideas. If I had to guess, I would say that the evolution would be done either when you level up holding an item, possibly the bow on its neck, or it evolves when exposed to an item in an evolution stone-like effect. Regardless, everything is mere speculation at this point.

    3. If you thin about it, the fact that there's a new Eeveelution highly suggests that there's an entirely new evolution method. Every time a new Eeveelution was introduced, it was to show off a new evolution method. Levelling up with a move/item and trading with an item didn't use Eevee, but happiness day and happiness night (( gen 2 )) both used Eevee, as did levelling up in specific locations (( gen 4 )). I think Gen 6 will have new evolution methods (( maybe something like levelling it up against a specific elemental type? ))

    4. Aside from Tangela and Piloswine, which I personally chalk up to brainfarts, every single evolution of an old Pokémon was done with a new method. It's not just an Eevee thing.

      Delete
    5. And by that I mean a method that wasn't possible at all in previous generations, and that includes specific items. So I don't think your idea would happen for that reason, though putting that reasoning aside it's not bad at all.

      Delete
    6. Yeah, I didn't think about that. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I look forward to seeing what Gamefreak has in mind

  8. My first reaction: did Victini turn into a cat? That being said, flying seems to make the most sense to me, but we'll have to wait and see.

  9. There is no way that thing is a Dragon. It would have a samurai hat or something if it were Fighting. I will guess Normal...

  10. I'm still rooting for Dragon. I mean, it looks vaguely Dragon-like, and does Flygon look like a Dragon type? Not really. Of course I'm holding my breath about this, but I guess really the most likely types for it would be Flying or Bug (it looks a bit look a Bug type, and there's that 'ninf' part of the name (like in nymph)).

The best description of Ninfia is a comment I saw on NoHomers: "It looks like Skyla had sex with an Eevee." True, true.

    1. Totally believable, it's right down her alley.

  11. Sylveon, huh? That name actually makes me think of Bug types.

However, it looks like the moves it used in the trailer were Double Edge (maybe?), Trump Card, and Swift, which are all normal-type moves. I'm thinking it's definitely normal at this point, though the name still 'bugs' me a bit. (HA)

    1. What about that first move it used? That was obviously a fire type move. Maybe Flame Burst?

  12. Sylveon? I'm... none the wiser. That didn't help at all. But I searched 'sylv' on a dictonary website, and I found the word 'sylvan', which has the following definitons:

    adjective
    1.
of, pertaining to, or inhabiting the woods.
    2.
consisting of or abounding in woods or trees; wooded; woody: a shady, sylvan glade.
    3.
made of trees, branches, boughs, etc.
    noun
    4.
a person dwelling in a woodland region.
    5.
a mythical deity or spirit of the woods.

    1. How about Sylph, the air spirit? Suddenly Flying looks a lot more likely.
