No Eeveelution... for now.

Well, the Unova League finale aired in the wee hours of the morning (for us North Americans, at least), and the mountain gave birth to nothing. Not even a mouse. I honestly can't decide whether I'm surprised or not. I mean, just thinking about it, the timing of that tweet I mentioned a few days ago... when you think about it, it's pretty ridiculous how it's just a legitimate trivia question. It was written two days before gen 6 was announced, and four days before the Unova League finale (a huge event by any standards) which featured a trainer that owns the entire evolutionary tree, who himself was the culmination of a big resurgence in exposure from the Eeveelutions in recent months. Of course I'm not saying it can't be a legitimate trivia question, but had it been anything else, it wouldn't have been written at any other time...

    I was skeptical of the whole thing from the moment it was mentioned because extrapolating any announcement in the cartoon from a trivia question is Rainman-level crazy, but one thing that occurs to me is surely given their commitment to making sure the whole world has news at the same time they wouldn't be revealing anything brand-new in a medium which comes out in some places before others?

    I daresay they'll still have content in CoroCoro, but by the looks of it they're working more closely with sites like IGN to provide updates (like Xerneas' and Yveltal's names) than before so they may well provide all the information we'd previously get only through CoroCoro.

      1. Considering my condition, being Rain Man-level crazy is obviously expected.

      2. The anime was more like a last-resort type of deal, after Tuesday's announcement gave us nothing. Aside from Ho-Oh, have we ever been exposed to something that wasn't announced beforehand?

      3. I'm not so sure about that commitment. Sure, we got the games, starters and mascots at the same time so far, but when they start giving us random Pokémon, we'll know for sure whether that's the case or not.

    Why can't Pokemon evolve during a battle like Riolu did ? It has been years since I last saw the anime, but I noticed that a Pokemon suddenly evolving and turning the tide of a battle happens often... It could be awesome, but on the other hand, I guess it would annoy the crap out of people trying to do an Unevolved Challenge or holding off an evolution for any other particular reason...

      Doesn't it usually happen when they're getting clobbered, though? If the games were to start mirroring the anime there, that would provide an incentive to suck, which is bad game design.

      You're probably right. I forgot about this little detail since it has been so long. But I was more talking about simply evolving if the conditions are met during the battle, like for a basic level-up evolution for example. Doesn't really make it any better, but whatever.
