New poll: favorite Pokémon types?

The last poll was about the status of starter Pokémon in your opinion, and once again we prove to be a far cry from the GameFAQs-and-friends crowd. Out of 338 voters, only 98 always keep their starter on their team no matter what. 86 only ditch it when all the choices are bad (ohai gen 5), and 146 don't care about how good they are, they'll ditch it if they have a better idea for a team. Six end up putting them in the PC out of simply not caring for them, and two always do so because they're a hindrance. To be honest, I only put those last two choices so that I could cover the full gamut of answers, but I knew the amount of votes for them would be very limited.

Next question: do you have favorite Pokémon types, or do you rate Pokémon individually regardless of typing?

  1. I tend to have a favorite playstyle, which in my case is stall. Along with that comes some types which can do things other types can't. For example, subseeding is something that only Grass Pokémon can pull off, and nearly all Grass-types can do it at least decently. Typing becomes very important in other situations, such as in a weather team. Of course I rate Pokémon individually too. I personally wouldn't use Shiftry as a subseeder because it can be put to better use in an offensive role.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I rate Pokémon individually, but I have favorite types as well. Sorry for such a bad response. :(

  2. Technically I do have a favorite, but on the whole I will like a Pokemon regardless of it's type.

  3. I don't have much of a favorite at all, but if I had to do a mono-run I'd probably pick Psychic. It's the closest to a favorite I have.

  4. If they did something with the Flying type other than birds and anything with wings, I would probably like it much more, but for now, not really, it depends on the Pokemon's design and little back-story coming from the Pokedex.

Yes, I know Tornadus was technically an exception, but looking at its new alternate form, they just completely blew it. I kinda liked the idea of a having a Wind Spirit, even if they copied and pasted the idea just to have a duo, but seriously ? Thundurus becomes an amazing flying electrical serpent thingy while Tornadus had to become another freaking bird ???

So the closest thing the Pokemon universe has to a badass sky guardian is still Rayquaza, whose role was not developed at all except from stopping the conflict between Groudon and Kyogre.

I know the type is "Flying" and not "Wind", but still...

  5. I don't really have a favourite type - I just choose my team beforehand, and run with it. Though if I had to decide, I'd probably say either Water, Grass or Psychic.

  6. I never actually thought about it, so I'd have to say I don't have a favorite type. I tend to prefer the 'elemental' types, like ice, electric, water and fire, and I also like psychic a lot.

  7. Most of my favorites are Psychic, but I judge Pokes individually...

  8. I don't have one specific favorite type, but I do like Psychic, Fire, Steel and Dark. All of those typings have some of my favorite Pokemon in them. Darkrai, Scizor, Steelix, Magmortar, Ho-Oh, Lugia, etc. But when it comes to in-game and competitive play, in-game I can go with a fun team cause I really don't feel the need to train a super powered competitive team in in-game play. Competitive play I usually pick Pokemon based off certain strategies, but I guess that can be said about anyone that plays competitive Pokemon.

  9. I usually try to make sure my team has a fighting, a water, and an electric.

  10. I always have a Grass/Water/Fire core, both competitive and in game, then make sure I have synergy between the other 3. Usually I have a ground type too, as in game they rock pretty hard. Always a flying type, for fly. Then 6th is something that fills a void thats left. I do try to go 3 special 3 physical too.All in all I go for types more then pokes, cutting down on overlap on a team as much as I can. I used Altaria just because it was a dragon type, same for druddigon.
