Spinoff poll results, new BW2 poll

The spinoff poll results surprised me a little bit, mostly because I expected a lot more people to not give a damn. Out of 228 voters, 105 said they wanted a console battling game, despite their general quality and reputation taking a downhill spiral as the "series" went on - even among non-Kanturds who can appreciate the more recent games for what they are, without the need for rose-tinted nostalgia goggles. I mean, everyone loved the Stadium games, right? And then came Colosseum and XD, which were truly a polarizing love-it-or-hate-it affair, and after that... NEON COLOSSEUM. That's all I'll say. And if you don't understand, consider yourself blessed.

90 voters went on the Mystery Dungeon side, which was also a bit of a surprise, considering that professional reviewers absolutely HATED the existing games. Then again, as I just said, I think we're in a much better position to judge the game, since it's not a game you can really get into by playing it for five minutes, or even an hour. The true form of the game doesn't start appearing until you're much deeper into it. Here's to hoping said reviewers and the pathetic WiiWare venture didn't kill the series, it still has so much to offer.

The other two options that weren't "I don't care" were a lot more marginal, with 11 votes for Ranger 4 and no more than four for a storage utility. Whatever happened to that "24 boxes aren't enough" we kept hearing when B/W first came out? Well... I guess they were after all, right?

Next poll is about the info we got out of CoroCoro. Are you psyched about BW2 now?

  1. Wait... There was a Mystery Dungeon on WiiWare? What.

As for BW2, I'm definitely excited, but at the same time I fear I'm caught up in hype. However, any Pokémon game that lets me use Lapras gets a pass from me.

    2. I care more about the extra content, but well I'm happy for all of you if you're so excited because of Lapras.

For me, as long as I have my Chandelure and an access to both Lanturn and Gallade at least for the post-game, I'll be completely satisfied. :3

    3. I hope we can catch Litwick a bit earlier in the game this time

    4. In the Unova Dex expansion, there are more than just Lapras that make me drool. Tyranitar? Metagross? Lucario? GIMME!!! Well, Metagross is still not a bad Pokemon, just outclassed in almost every way by Jirachi. Ability, movepool, taking special hits. Yeah, I like Metagross and all, but against Jirachi...yeah. Here is to Metagross maybe but probably not getting into BorderLine because he may BREAK UU...

  2. I'm going to agree with Droid on this one, it's solid what we have but I'm interested to hear more about the game before we can buy it. The level curve, the availability of those pokemon that evolve later should be fixed in these games, or at least should be adressed.

  3. I'm not going to lose my shit in excitement, but I am really looking forward to the game and seeing what it will fix about generation 5.

  4. Yeah, I'm on the absolute "love it" side when it comes to XD. Which should be fairly obvious.
    And definetly excited for BW2.

  5. Pre-ordered japanese version (and english version, you can do that @ playasia) just because I want to see this fail.

    1. Not really... If you actually pre-ordered it and you're going to play it, they win.

A game only "fails" when it doesn't sell. The rest is subjective matters and isn't really relevant to the success of a game.

    2. Yeah, as long as they have your money, they don't give a rat's ass about the rest. Remember the people who wanted to boycott Sonic 4 by buying Sonic 1 instead? Yeah, that must've worked really well...
